LTM 1500 id like to see MIC, MSG or Michielsens

MIC, yes, MSG, no (sorry Christian I don't live near them, and it's just blue), Michielsens, yes. Also: Thoemen (old style), Whyte, and Nordic Crane. No yellow.

yeah, the "beige" works for me for some reason, its a simple but nice livery in my opinion

As I said before, I hope they would make three different models. Lets see some pics of the prototypes.

Yeah if they have prototypes of the 988K shouldn't they have some of the other models? I also wanna see Norscots new models...

Alright, if The Contractor and Fowlie are making an appearance, I'll make a cameo.

The 988 celebrates 50 years in production this year, it was always going to be modelled so you end up with some quarry loaders, a legacy model and a mining model, if you can,t be pleased with those choices you should give it away

Missed the point there Gav. Waaay too many wheel lodders, nothing against the 988, just the amount of loaders from Tonkin. Nothing personal against your beloved Cat products. Now if there were 8 different versions of scrapers, I'd be beside myself...but loaders, I'm a little bummed too. They had so many great options to make a HUGE splash into the Cat 1:50th arena. Can't please everyone I guess.

2) Sweet Jesus, how long did it take you to research this!?

The actual length of the 950 (I'll pick one bucket and use it across all three for consistency- GP pin on with teeth) is 27'0" (8209mm), the 966 is 29'0" (8817mm), and the 972 is 30'9" (9353mm). That means at 1/50, the 950 would be 6.48" (164.18mm) long. The 966 would be 6.96" (176.34mm) long, and the 972 would be 7.38" (187.06mm) long. That means the 966 would be 0.48" (12.16mm) longer than the 950, and the 972 would be 0.42" (10.72mm) longer than the 966. I don't know about you, but I feel a roughly half inch difference between each model is worth making changes for.

Now, the difference will definitely have something to do with the different buckets, so lets eliminate them from the equation, and use the dimensions of the machines from the centerline of the front axle, to the rear of the counterweight. The 950 is 17'2" (5255mm), the 966 is 18'5" (5637mm), and the 972 is 19'4" (5923mm). That means, that in 1/50 scale, the measurements are 950 4.12" (105.1mm), 966 4.42" (112.74mm), and the 972 4.64" (118.46mm). While the difference is less, it's still around a 1/4 of an inch, and still worth making the necessary changes in my opinion.

Epic, simply an epic "I'll be right at all cost" effort! Ross should apologize. (Kidding!) My head hurts... (Smile big guy! Wink )

As some of you have been a little down with Tonkin's latest release of the 988K and that their whole 2013 Model Line up consist nothing other than K-Series Wheel loaders, plus a mining loader and dozer. I for one am glad to see a 988K as this model should of been released a while ago even if it was a 988H. Finally something to load the portable crushers or even the 772 Haul Truck. Kudos Tonkin!!Applause

Also the new Norscot releases should be worth the wait and don't forget that they are possibly planning on releasing a few more 1/50 Cat models later in the year.
It's better to see some models from CAT and more then one manufacturer than nothing at all.........

I agree 100% and could not have said it better myself Sir!

Thanks Chris!! Smile I also agree with Ross and some prototype photos should help to clear the air in this post and help clarify things because who really knows what the finished product will look like. Will they have rock buckets or General Purpose straight edge buckets for loading material? Will there be any work tools or even a coupler? I know Chuck has listed the details but the pictures are of the real machines and not the models other than the 988K but for some reason has not been listed for sale yet on the DHS home page. HmmmmThink

Are u kindling me?! Most people where asking for this model since that the production of the 1:1 version had began, and that was in 1998! The liebherr ltm 1500-8.1 is not the ugliest crane build! I could say the same thing about your favourite excavators or some that is imported to you. I can say the same thing about the cat 988 and what ever that piece of crap is.
Yes most people wanted to have the LTM 1500-8.1 because it is a model is both impressive and good looking.

Mammoet- Size does Matter.

Nope, still ugly. When I first saw the 15 in Anthony colors at ConExpo 1999 I hated it. Now the LR1600/2...pure beauty. It's the "dog house" cab that ruins it for me on the 15.

Smile, it's just my opinion on a machine style (but the black and red do help). And for the record, there are engineers at Ehingen that hate it too.

About 10 minutes, I know you're a driller Chris, but it probably wouldn't even take you more than an hour or two....LMAO. Just buggin ya.

I wasn't even an attempt to prove I was right, it was to dispel the incorrect info being presented. I just want people to have the correct info, that's all. Can't make much of an informed decision without the correct info.

You mid-spelled DAYS. HA!

Not seen at Bauma but Bauma timed, what are your thoughts on the new Caterpillar shovels from TWH? I might take one for myself finally, I really like the updated cab.

Hahahaha, I guess I was giving too much credit......LOL.

I like the updates done to the TWH 7495 shovels. I couldn't bring myself to buy a repainted 495 that was basically a fantasy machine, but I will be buying one of the 7495 HFs. I might even go for a straight 7495 to round things out.

I just wish the 6120 program hadn't been put on hold. If it was still running, I wouldn't have been surprised to see a model show up. Oh well, maybe when they restart the program something will happen.

There will only be to many loaders Chris because there are a couple of 980K,s coming from Norscot! at the end of the day no one is holding a gun to your head to buy them all, you actually have a massive choice between the 2 manufacturers for this year, that has to be a plus that the collector has choice but it wouldn,t matter what all the makers made as you can,t please every one.

The other thing to remember is the product groups at Cat have the ultimate say on this, they are pushing the manufacturers way more than us the collectors are and when the client tells you what they want what are you going to say?
