Hello group, has anyone recieved one of the new CAT795F models yet?.
I am patiently waiting for them to arrive but would love to see some photos in the meantime if anybody has one. I know the official promotional photo has been released but it's never the same as a "real" photo from a collector.
It would be especially interesting to see a side by side size comparisson shot with the 797F.
Thanks in advance!.

Mine arrived a couple weeks ago and it's a monster! It's almost identical in size to the 797F truck in fact it's so close I had to look up the dimension specs. I hadn't realized how close they are in physical size. Be warned though... because of the size and Norscots less than adequate packaging I had a good bit of repair work to do. The worst was the left front wheel that had it's screws pulled out so that it just sort of dangled. It was an easy fix but it involved a complete diss-assembly of the front of the truck. There were a couple broken rails and the tanks were loose but a little super glue fixed it right up. Interestingly enough the boxes didn't show any external damage at all but the plastic formers that cradle the model inside were shattered like glass. "/> "/>

If there are no indication mark of "CAT 795" I will think it is another 797F...

As quoted from the Cat 795F Brochure "Using many components from the 797F – the 795F AC emphasis is on durability" which explains why they are so similar. The rated payload is 345 tons, so just a little shy of it's mechanical driven sibling. It's a very nice looking model, however the tires seem to have that high gloss look. The white 797F version that I have is equipped with tires that have more of a matte finish. I was hoping that future releases would also have that same finish, but I guess not. Thanks for the great comparison pics.

Excellent, thanks for the photos Jeff, and yes I never realised it would be so close in size to the 797F. I was kinda looking forward to a "baby version"(if you know what I mean) of the 797F but it seems it's all but a 797F!. Can any physical size difference be seen?. Nevertheless, it will be joining my collection - fingers crossed it comes without any problems.

OK mini review time. As far as differences between the 797F and 795F 1/50 trucks go, the castings look very similar but they are definitely different. The 797F is about 3/8" wider and the wheelbase is also about 3/8" longer. The tires on the 795F are more of a matte finish compared with the 797F but not as much as are on the NZG 797B. The tires are also very hard like plastic and are made with a larger opening on the inside than the outside similar to the 993K loader only this time the front wheels are made very well and you can't tell that the sidewall of the tire is actually part of the wheel unless you look very closely. If you peek between the duals you can see the 993K wheel effect but again they have done a good job of hiding them by facing the dualed tires with the big opening toward each other so you can't see it unless you really want to. There is a nice engine under the opening engine cover and neat safety cables to hold the bed up. Lots of electric gear details too. One thing you can probably see in the pictures is that it sits a little high in front compared to the 797F. Most of my bigger trucks sit a little nose down but this one sits like the bed isn't quite down, but it is. Looks like it's accelerating while the others look like they're stopping if you know what I mean. Doesn't look bad just different. All in all I think it's a pretty decent model for the price and I'd definitely buy it again.

Excellent mini review Jeff, thanks for the info. It's a shame the tyres are still plastic but you can see a difference for the better compared to the 797F and I was wondering about the "hollow" wheel syndrome but if they've managed to hide it then that helps. I suppose with Norscot we get what we pay for(I see the DHS price is $259). Would I have paid $300 for a better NZG version with, for example, rubber tyres and no hollow wheel syndrome?. Personally yes, but I suppose at least we've got what are, like you say, decent models of the 797/795F and I guess that's something to be thankful for.
