Well I've really missed building since I put my R9150 on hold and I spent a long time considering what I could build in the meantime. I printed out schematics for the R984C but then I found some really great material on the Hitachi EX1200-6 so I decided to do that instead... or at least first. I also found a really nice rock bucket made specially for the EX1200 by Trevibenne (3V) of Italy. The bucket has 2.8m cutting width and 9m3 (11.7 yard) capacity, and it really looks the part.

My model is not an exact replica because I had to guess all the dimensions except the width, however I made it to be a close relative with slightly less nasty-looking teeth. Smiley As before with 1/32 I find great satisfaction and challenge in adding as much detail as possible, so this time I tried to go one better than my R9150 bucket so I used 0.25mm styrene sheets for some detail parts.

I'll keep this thread updated with my progress. Next I'll be doing the stick. The excavator will be in Hitachi's "bulk excavator" configuration with short stick and boom.

Thanks guys.

I finished adding the detail to the teeth and some of the weld lines, and now the painting is almost finished too... so far it's had four coats of orange and I may have to do some touching up. I found some nice green acrylic lying around so I decided to put it on the teeth and bring them out a little.

My god..that is incredible looking. Not sure how much more detail there could be. Amazing job. That bucket is worthy of a display case by itself....without an excavator attached to it.

Cat 245.....Now and Forever

I am looking for industrial auction brochures from Ritchie Bros, Miller & Miller, Forke Bros, First Team Auction, Max Rouse, etc from the 70's, 80's and 90's.I am a collector and heavy equipment enthusiast and these pamphlets are loaded with nice pictures of cleaned and freshly painted equipment.Thet don't have much value once the sale is over but they are a great help to me in preserving the memory of machines that are no longer being built. Please, help my hobby by looking in your old storage boxes and file folders for these old auction sale brochures.Your help is much appreciated.
