So I thought I would update the progress on my version of PTC/SGC…previously posted as diecast convert.
There is still a long way to go with the fiddly bits(cab/handrails etc.) but it is capable of doing a lift now, so I will post a couple of photos.
How heavy do you think……I was hoping for 42-45 kg’s…..there is 36 sitting on the back?

10 kg's

So how heavy?????

Thanks for looking.

Thanks for looking and the comments...

Yes Jose it hoisted, luffed and slewed the load no-one has been game to take a guess at!

The motors and gearboxes have the power to destroy the model but when it stared creaking and groaning and winch ropes humming, I thought 66.5 kilo's was enough!!

For the Imperialists that's 144.6 Lbs...not bad for 8 x 8mm wooden dowels as main boom chords.

Now if my darling wife would stay still and not try and struggle out of the harness I would be able to pick her up and hold her there. HeHe!

The main hook had to come off for the jib but I didn’t want to have to reeve the 147 metres of string for a third time, so used dog-bone pendants to hang it off the boom head, clamped it off, kept it reeved and hung it on the wall…easy peasy!

It will only take ten minutes to put it back on and Hey..... fully reeved.

Thanks for looking.

From looking at your latest photos it would appear that you're using roller bearing sheaves. Where did you find them? Also how much rope do you have on that beast and what size? The whole thing is just awesome. TFS

The sheaves are my own, and the bearings are from fishing reels....Google miniature bearings! My supplier has mini-everything.

There is 147 metres (482 ft) of 1.4 mm blind cord (you can buy in any colour ) on the main.... that's why i chose not to have to reeve it again,..... and 90 metres (295ft) on the auxiliary.
Not sure yet how much I will run on the jib.

Thanks for looking and the comments.
