Hi everyone, For those of you crane guys, how do you like the LG 1600-2 versus the 18000? I am thinking about purchasing one of these but me being me, I am doing some researching before I shell out that kind of cash. If you have any other recommendations they would be appreciated.
Thanks, Nick

I am assuming that you mean the LR1600-2. Anyway, I have both cranes and like them both. Either way I don't think you will be disappointed. While I have not built my 1600-2 yet, I can comment on the 18000. It is beautiful. Problems?- If you want the boom and jib extension, the job sections do not fit well with the models jib sections that come with it. They were made by different companies and I guess it is a hit or miss as to whether they will work or not. I just extended the boom and will leave it at that. And then the pennant lines for the jib are two different lengths. One is tight, while the other one sags a bit. I am going to add a couple of small turnbuckles to the pennants and that should fix the problem. Othewise, it is 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

Well, personally I would go for the LR 1600-2 over the 18000 because of the attention to detail NZG took from top to bottom when crafting this beauty. I have both models and both are great but the LR takes the cake IMO.. Just saying *AZ described the cons of the 18000 very well, the jib pendant lines are clearly uneven, I thought it was just mine.

unless you have found a good deal on the 18000, go with the 1600 hands down. i own both and would take the lr1600 all day.

I don't have either crane but for the money and customer service I'd go with the LR1600 as it does come with spare track pieces and generally if something is broken NZG will generally replace it with an email and parts come within a week from their company in Germany.
The 18000 while being a nice crane will be extremely hard to get parts for as TWH is no longer in business so you'd be relying on the hopes that someone somewhere would possibly have the spare parts on hand.
Hope this helps too!!

God forbid you make a MISTAKE, while asking a QUESTION on a FORUM Anyway, cranesetc.co.uk has great reviews of both, and I think miniature-construction-world.com has reviews of them both as well. However, from what I've heard the LG (I did that on purpose to emphasize my point) 1600 is the better crane model-wise, anyway.

I have both & like both The LAMPSON M18000 with an extra full counter weight set & YELLOW LR1600/2 (new unboxed) Only gripe i have with LIEBHERR is it needs to release more company liveries. ( I'd love the blue LR1600 as on the box ) . .

( I'd love the blue LR1600 as on the box ) . . You have a point here. There have been plenty if not too many LTM 11200-9.1's (18 so far I believe) but very few others such as the LR 1300. There have only been 2 to my knowledge (Felbermayr and van Marjwik). So far there are only 2 announced for the LR 1600, one of which is of course Mammoet and the other is NEEB, which I am getting. There are many good liveries for both cranes so I hope we see a few more in the future. Paul R
