I bought the P&H 670 Ext kit from him. I havent installed it yet on the crane. Its still packed away from the move. But looking at the part, im really happy with it.

Yep, that technology brings endless possibilities now.

As a good suggestion for their inventory, I would suggest replacement tracks for Conrad LR1750 wide ones. With all of these crawler cranes on the market, they could possibly have a winner... And one could weather the plastic ones so to keep the originals mint in case of re-sale...

Gabriele replied

Thanks Brett.

I konw that there are many request for crane models and i'm working on it but at moment i'm very busy on other project.
Maybe the crawler pads for Conrad LR1750 will be come before the end of this years.

Regards
Gabriele

James replied to my pm about the crawler tracks.

Thanks, I may look into it. I assume that this is something that you are personally interested in ? I may not get to this for a while though since I am a college student so I am about to get pretty busy here in the next few weeks, but I should be graduating in december. If you are still interested at that time I would suggest sending me a reminder message and we can discuss possibilities more.

Thanks,

James Simpson

As to your question about scaling, seeing something in 1:87 and wanting to get in made in 1:50

You can not do this directly in Shapeways. You can try to contact the designer - link on the designers page.

The original part must be scaled in a 3D CAD tool.

I need some large hooks in HO, and could not find what I needed that was already created in Shapeways.

Did some research and found a free 3D tool called SketchUp. SketchUp has a 3D Warehouse (File -> 3D Warehouse) where you can dowload and save wire frames. I found the hook that I wanted.

I have never used a 3D tool before and took a little bit of time. But I was able to scale it to what I wanted. Scaling is not a simple process: select, measure, stretch, and measure again. Finally got a file that I could upload to Shapeways, waited three weeks, and got the hooks back.

First ones came back and I had made them in mm's and not inches. Redid the same process, but in inches this time. Below shows the finals ones from Shapeways and the on that I modeled it from. If I recall correctly, they were about $3 each, with shipping included.

I have since made more more with a collar near the top.

I will be learning more about 3D design, because I have lots planned.

3D plastic printing is right now and the machines the size of a coffee maker but full metal printing is coming ??? When that happens tooling cost will drop and we will see this happen in our generation great minds are hard at work advancing every day.

For 3 K you can own a SLA machine from Formlabs1+ 100 microns down to 25 microns but resins will fade when metal printing hits. It used to be with funds anything is possible but with small start up cost if you have the skill you can create just about anything you want faster with much more detail and for dollars not 10's of thousands.

If they found a way to cure resins precisely to any specifications well metal is not to far behind kind of like Alchemy all over again what parts of metals together in powder form or another state will make up the magic combination to print metal.

Great topic

Is the 345D body available to order from the USA? I would like to get one in the future if it is.

To design, I use solidworks, and for getting pre made designs, I use grabcad.com. I print with a makerbot, and a mojo.

Hi just for those who wants to buy this shackles from shapeways. In my opinion they are a little over priced for quantity they feel fragile but for the size they can hold very well.

Also nzg bolts fit very well. As the don't come with pins.

SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING.
