After a bit of decision making and the right model coming up on ebay I decided to get cracking with this one. It all came apart a treat and the paint came off ok with a bit of elbow grease. I have a donor PC1100 for the tracks. They are getting stripped as I write.

Cheers, The current walkway around the cab is solid but I want to make a new see through walkway but every time I look at it I think it's beyond my ability.

It's good to see that you've started the project! Do you plan to narrow the PC1100 tracks, or just use them as they are?

I will probably leave them as they are for now. They could probably do with a couple of mm off them but that could turn into a fiddly job.

Bit of work on the bucket over the past couple of days. A bit more to do in the way of internal wear plates and some lifting eyes.

Very nice. I like what you did with the bucket, It's amazing how much detail you get from just a little bit of styrene. Are you planning on putting metal tracks on as well or will you be keeping the stock rubber ones on? "It's O-gauge or no gauge..."

Thanks for the kind words all. I have some metal tracks off a JOAL PC1100 that I am putting on. They are taking some stripping, the paint was baked on in a nuclear reactor I think!. The sprockets on the model need thinning down a little to get the tracks on and ideally I would like to make the tracks a bit narrower but that is going to be a mission!

I'm glad to see some progress on this project, and am anxious to see the completed bucket.
Regardless of whether you modify the PC1100 tracks or not, they will likely look better than what the model came with originally.

I like what you have done with the bucket alone. Looking forward to the other updates.....

A couple more additions to the bucket today. Finished the wear plates inside the bucket and added some lifting eyes to the top and side of the bucket as per photos of the real thing I've seen. The lifting eyes are a little chunkier than I wanted but they were ninja to make. 2 more wear plates to do and it's done. Bit of filling and put to one side for the primer.

Going by the fantastic detail you've put on the bucket,I don't think the tracks should pose much of a problem to you, Regards Joe.

Thought I'd put this out there because i'm undecided. I was thinking of using the side grills off a JOAL PC1100 as the grills on this 5130. They will be cut down and sunk so they are flush with the sides. Or do I find something else? This is just stuck on for now to get an idea.

And you're worried about cutting down the PC1100 track pads???? You're a talented builder dude, the 1100 'gills' look awesome! Rowan. 1:25th scale CAT 375L excavator

Thanks for the replies. I'm just aware that the grill configuration is different from the original machine and wondering if I should go with it. I will strip the paint and start cutting later today then.
