I have been building a "new school" 50' tower yarder the past few weeks. It's a lot more work than I thought it would be with a large amount of styrene work. Here it is next to a 2954D for a size reference. Here's how the top of the tube looks so far. This will be an ongoing project for quite awhile. I'm hoping to have it rigged up by the end of the year but I think that may be a push. More soon.

Figured while I am scratching my head on guy line winches, I could build a line spooler and a truck to pack it around. Had a spare Pete on the shelf so here's what I did; Trucks like these are stashed away all over the northwest. They're used to change out lines on yarders. Bring the new cable up, remove the old line from the yarder, and pull the new line onto the yarder.

I built some guy line winches tonight, put them on and now I'm thinking about either moving the cab, changing to a different style winch, or both. It's a giant mess in my mind right now. Lol

I like your Yarder build. It is always more work when you get into it.

Looks good! Can't wait to see it rigged up and flying some wood. What did you use for your drum set?
Are you an enviromentist, or do you work for a living?
