I decided to cut my PC1100-6 and turn it into a PC1250. First I had to strip the paint off the PC1100. Yea, that sums up how easily the paint came off. Here is the model before I spent even more time with a wire wheel removing to remaining paint.

Also been upgrading the hydraulic lines.

Saw your post on facebook. That paint is a nightmare to get off, welded on by the heat of the sun I think! Although I was surprised to see the detail on the bucket once all the paint had come off!

There must be a bath of some sort of paint stripper you can just drop it in, you know, the lazy way! I have found that a small wire brush is good for getting the flaking paint off but do it outside!

So far so good, Ethan. I see you have already cut off the counterweight, as I did on mine also. The 1250 has about 6"scale larger C'wt than the 1100, and with doing that I HAD to add the engine and pumps, since now you can see inside when the C'wt is off. Also added the twin air intakes. I made my catwalks removable, and also the side frame/tracks, so I can use the 1250 as a load. How far will you be going with this project? All the best, DanielD

I agree that it needs to have something back there. Mine looks good from about five feet away. I am going to leave the catwalks and undercarriage alone. I also stole the -7 cab from the PC400. Thanks to mike for pointing out the 1250-8 uses a -7 cab.Confused

Working on the final assembly of the model after paint. I have had lots of time to work on it recently around Thanksgiving.

All finished up. I am glad I stripped off the paint before hand or this would be one thick paint job.

The decals look alright. These photos make them look black, however they are more blue in person.
