For my next model project a Caterpillar D8T WDA , I searched the interned for photos and cam at the Caron site. http://www.caroncompactor.com/products/new-dozersWhen I saw the SWS ( Solid Waste Shoe ) on the D8 I thought that it would be nice on a model, but a lot of work. http://s106.photobucket.com/user/ADGEVERS/media/1-SWS.jpg.htmlhttp://s106.photobucket.com/user/ADGEVERS/media/SWS5.jpg.html

Got from a friend some brass track links and modified them to the SWS. Have to build 5 of them and then of to the caster to duplicate them. http://s106.photobucket.com/user/ADGEVERS/media/SWS5-1.jpg.htmlhttp://s106.photobucket.com/user/ADGEVERS/media/SWS3.png.html

Very cool! I'm very interested to watch this build. I really enjoy landfill equipment. Do you plan on keeping the ripper?

That looks great as always. This has me wondering how these track shoes would do in forestry applications.

So often, in forestry the land owner wants as little damage done to the soil as possible. So LGP dozers are used even if the conditions aren't wet. These shoes are intended to cut and compress garbage just like a compactor wheel. Just the opposite of LGP.

I realy like that project. I've been looking for some custom excavator tracks myself, such as those for my ZX870: Flat track linksI wonder if your friend could cast me some .... I can handle the weathering job myself, though Stephane

Great job on those track pads. They look awesome! kanewolf wrote:So often, in forestry the land owner wants as little damage done to the soil as possible. It's different here in the pacific northwest. While the landowners (public land or private) do want to minimize the impact of the equipment a lot of the terrain here is steep and you don't get as good traction with LGP pads because they don't dig in as much. Over here we put single grouser pads on excavators and track claws on our dozers to give them more grip and better traction. Facebook: NorCalDiecastCustomsInstagram: NorCalDiecastCustomsClifton

A good friend of mine runs a brand new 3754d Deere that was ordered with them from the factory.

The front wheel with spring of the D8T can move too much ! But there are also no carrier rollers that support the tracks ,If you look at many dozer models you will see that many have the same problem.

To solve this problem , I have a plates of 1 mm placed under the spring. And make a support for the tracks.
