I came across a photo of a propane vaporizer on the web. I had the makings of a tank that would be just right for a model of it so, I decided to build one.

I started with the frame:

The vaporizer tank is made from a piece of 1/2" PEX tubing

The tank was made from a plastic bottle that held aroma beads. The diameter is almost exactly the same size as the bottom of an ordinary soda can. by carefully cutting the metal it just snapped over the end of the tube!!

I used sanding sticks to sand the aluminum down flush.

A little Squadron putty smoothed every thing out

Here is the frame, the tank, part of the vaporizer and part of the electrical system

So far so good

I hope to have the model done around New Years.

It's pretty sad when the only modeling tool you own is a box cutter.

If the only tool you have is a hammer, you start to see every problem as a nail. Abraham Maslow

I like scratch built projects like that. Doing observations, then trying to find the right stuff for the project.

Great idea and doing great so far. I guess you will need brass wires for the pipe job... Wink

Your resourcefulness should be commended on this one. A soda can and some plastic packaging and you made yourself a very nice accessory.

Very nice way of recycling. There's nothing better than giving life back to stuff that is going to trash. I always try to use recycling stuff to make my projects too thats a great idea.
