Basketball Man,

Keep posting your progress!! This is quite a project, and it is looking great!! I myself was wondering the best way to solder, and Hobie gave the answer: resistive soldering. Your soldering on your S-24 looks clean, nevertheless. Your model is going to be quite awesome when you get it done. I am enjoying the progress.

Awesome work Ethan. Must be one of the most ambitious brass projects I've seen on this forum.

One question: what type of putty do you use for brass?

I have to use some for this HO project (far right of the picture: cab road number windows). I soldered some plates behind the windows but I need to fill the outside openings next to the lights, at each ends.

Thanks,

Stephane

What are you using to cut your brass sheets? Those are really clean cuts.

I'm using tin snips or my dremel with a cut off wheel depending on how thick the brass. The thin brass cuts well with the tin snips (metal shears)

Working on the cab. I will add the glass panels after I paint the model, similar to how I did my Koehring 1166

Hi Basket ball!!
This is gonna be TERRIFIC!!!!!Looking good so far but i can't wait to see the final product.
For what i've seen, both the "B" and "C" series looks pretty similar.
The S-24 was front Wheel drive only. The TS machines were 4 Wheel drive-one engine for each axle.
That makes me wonder what gives the less headache-when starting a major project-beween starting with a donor model(like i've done on all my customs so far) or build the whole thing from scratch like you are doing right now, and like you've done on your 1166
One last thing, i am pretty sure i don't need to mention that, but make sure you paint your S-24 the PROPER color.....and yellow is NOT the right color!!!!!
Great work, congratulations.
Max.

Cat 245.....Now and Forever

I am looking for industrial auction brochures from Ritchie Bros, Miller & Miller, Forke Bros, First Team Auction, Max Rouse, etc from the 70's, 80's and 90's.I am a collector and heavy equipment enthusiast and these pamphlets are loaded with nice pictures of cleaned and freshly painted equipment.Thet don't have much value once the sale is over but they are a great help to me in preserving the memory of machines that are no longer being built. Please, help my hobby by looking in your old storage boxes and file folders for these old auction sale brochures.Your help is much appreciated.

Not to worry this will be green. Anything less would be despicable.

Got to working on making some resemblance of the 12v-71. Now time to wait for the wheels to cross the pond.

Got this beast done.

Offset grill. All of the Euclid/Terex scrapers have had a mean look to the front. It kind of says "I EAT YELLOW MACHINES FOR BREAKFAST!"

The neck is not perfect but it functions, so I will take function over form.
