You hit the nail on the head there Jack, I mightened be a lover of the 1:1 terex's but the models will be a welcome addition. Might even see one in ABA colours

Heavy Cranes

I totally agree with you guys and it is better to have something than nothing at all but again another Mass Excavator , and no standard or long reach boom for the trenching and sewer guys really puts a damper on being excited because if you come up into Ontario, Canada evey large sewer and watermain or heavy contractor is operating 385/390's with a long boom/stick configuration and the ratio of mass excavators here is slim........why can't they just make 2 versions like CCM did? Norscot seemed to do it with the 980K's just with different buckets and tire tread configurations but still had the option. I agree you can't make every collector happy but how about doing something different than something that has already been done even if it was a 390DL ME or 374DL w/mass set up.
Just a thought instead of trying to spend $$$ on a custom conversion.

And for the other items not anything exciting or worth looking forward too. No new Dozers, Graders, ADT's or Paving Equipment. Kind of disappointing after waiting a year.

I must have drifted right past this yesterday. At an announced price of $325 (but subject to rise as we have learned already) at Conexpo, I can only hope that this is a painted resin prototype. Boom deflection in squirt booms is inherent, but that boom is listing from the base. Look at the photo closely.

Just as an observer, I have to wonder if Tonkin can continue at their current pace. My late father had a saying; a horse that defecates (forum friendly term) fast doesn't defecate for long. I know it rolls off the tongue easier using the four letter verb. I just wonder how long they can continue to put out stuff that just isn't "right" in one way or another. Here's my latest experience.

At the open house last year, I held the 568 roadbuilder metal prototype in my own hands and posed it in every conceivable position and it was really impressive. So when I finally get the model, let it warm up from sitting on the porch I open it up. It looks really great and I decide to take some photos. Everything's fine until I decide to put it on a lowboy. I folded down the cab and the cylinder popped out of the sleeve! OK; no problem, get the hemostats out and position the sleeve inline with the cylinder. Problem fixed. I then went to fold the boom and stick in and curl the bucket; the bucket curled up perfectly, but when I folded the stick you will never believe what happened. You simply won't believe it!

The stick cylinder popped right out of the sleeve on the boom! In this case you can actually see the sleeve foul the boom and that initiates the popping out. It's just sloppy engineering in my opinion. Just a few more grams of zamac would have raised the sleeve mounting point on the boom or a thinner plastic sleeve might have prevented this from being an issue. Either way, just a few cents per model cost I would think?

Before anybody wants to jump my ass about the comments I've made; I'd like to end this on a positive note. I've taken delivery of my pair of Nicolas Tractomas trucks, and they are FANTASTIC! Tonkin does know how to make truck models and just need to apply the standards they use there with the construction models.

Has anybody found any photos from the Bymo booth? I've seen one photo of the Bauer MC96, but that's it.
