What is the story behind these Sword Mack Granite tractors? Were they made but never released to the public? Anyone have any info on these? Id love to pick one up if anyone has one. - Mike

I have the red tractor and red trailer, and there was also a red tractor with a black trailer. As I recall, they sold out very quickly.  Ken

The red Mack Granite tractor and red Rogers lowboy trailer sold out even more quickly than the version with the black Rogers lowboy trailer if my memory serves me correct. The Mack Granite tractor came out about the same timeframe as the Kenworth T800 combination, it also came out just after First Gear released their version of the Mack Granite tractor and lowboy trailer. This prompted Sword Models to not produce as many Mack Granite tractors as the Kenworth T800 combination.

Try Drake Collectables in Australia. They had about six of them in the sale bin at the Drake open day last month.

i wished i could get a red 4 axle low loader i have the ASAM in red but had to glue the flip was damaged when i got it. .

The FG models are nice but I would rather have seen Sword make more of the Peterbilts, KWs and Mack's! They are such nice models and so hard to find now. Such a shame they are so hard to find.

KPD23 Did you take the headache rack off the Sword Pete also? If so, what's left of the Pete? That Pete is a highly sought after truck. First Gear makes nice looking trucks, but they don't hold a candle to a Sword. Too much plastic. Your truck looks nice though. Also, what is the wooden block under the gooseneck for?CAW

Also, what is the wooden block under the gooseneck for?CAW I think that's an old mechanical detach trick, to keep th neck from falling down, hydrolic detaches don't need it due to the fact there is an arm that holds the neck from falling.

Thanks naraztrans. I see now. I had not scrolled over to the right to see that the trailer was not attached. Makes perfect sense now. After 15 years, I still have not figured out how to use the Forum. CAW

You can slide it forward or backward on the truck frame to match the ground terrain where you are dropping the trailer. The advantages of using a block are, you do not have to worry about forgetting to lift the stinger arm back up and tearing your fenders off when turning a corner, and you have better stability with the neck sitting on the block than a stinger arm resting on the tractors cross member. You can always use the stinger against the block to lift the neck up higher, if you need to. The disadvantage to using a block is if you forget to put it away there is a chance it could fall to the road or DOT giving you a ticket for an unsecured load item.  Ken

Thanks Guys, Yea the wooden block was just an old trick my dad would use on older Rogers trailer before we had metal plates welded on the frames.  "/>  "/>
