Hello group, I had a little treat today when I visited the site of a new wind turbne and got to see an LTM1750 being assembled for the lift next week.

The company is "Crane Hire Limited" and it turns out that they have come all the way from Ireland.

Hopefully I'll see her all finished and fully erected but for now here's a couple of photos from today.

It's hard to comprehend how big the 1750 is but suffice to say I can tell you it's huge!.

She's getting around!!

Great to see more pics of her, they have some cracking pictures on their site and videos of some lifts carried out too,

I can remember seeing her in their yard the morning she came off the boat fresh from Liebherr, then a few weeks later in a bigger yard while they assembled her with luffer,it was involved in precast concrete bridge beam lifts close to where I live with their newly painted(at the time) LTM1500

Appreciate the pics Paul! keep them coming if you can,you always get treated now and then to some tasty lifters

Why is "phonetically" spelt with a "ph"?

... It's better to be silent and thought a fool, then to speak up and remove all doubt

The complex of Newgrange was originally built between c. 3100 and 2900 BC,[2] meaning that it's aproximately 5,000 years old. According to Carbon-14 dates,[3] it is more than 500 years older than the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, and predates Stonehenge by about 1,000 years.

Good catch Paul.

I won't customize this one that time, still very nice pictures as you usually do.

I'm catching up with several RR projects now, but I miss kitbashing 1:50 models. I am still thinking about that platform anchor.... Maybe this fall. Think

Thanks for the nice comments.

They had a perfect day for finishing the assembly and it's incredible how tall it is with the luffing extenstions on.

I must give a big thank you to the crane crew and project people for allowing me access and taking photos.

The nacille of the wind turbine is 63 tonnes and will be lifted 80 metres.

I'll certainly give you a heads up when they leave Bruce but it might be at least a week. The weather isn't looking the best for the lifts.

Nice pictures. It always amazes me as to how large a luffing jib is.

Thanks again for the nice comments.

The crews had a good weather window this weekend so pressed on with erecting the turbine.

What a treat for a crane enthusist like myself - an LTM 1750 and blue skies!.

You are one lucky individual! Who'd of thought Shetland would be host to so many heavy lifters over the years?
