How close is the 992 to HO scale ? If you have the 992C. Would you be kind enough to share large pictures of it ? Haven't gotten this model yet. Stills searching for it...

The Shinsei #4601 Caterpillar 992C is in 1/75th scale. They made it in 4 colors, OEM Cat colors (two versions one with black handrails, other with yellow handrails), Yellow, Bronze, and Blue. I don't have the piece, but I would say it would work in 1/87th scale.

Also beware that these go for crazy money on eBay, and they are not really super rare or anything. Same thing with their Terex Titan.

HO is 1/64, correct? That 992c is 1/75 I think, so it'll probably be a bit out of scale. They pop up on eBay frequently, I almost accidentally bid on one thinking it was the CCM, WOOOOooooooo would I have been upset!

HO is 1:87 scale - or close to it.

1:64 is closer to S Scale.

Thank you Mike. I'm on the lookout for the Yellow version model if you know of anyone willing to be rid of it. Have a HO scene in mind with this ole girl.

Thank you Stephen

All the equipment in the background is all 1/87 and the truck it's loading is 1/87...so it's not too far off. Looks ok in my books and the price is right when you can find them...

Stephen, I am looking for one myself, but I might get the bronze or blue one first. Shinsei also made #4140 Caterpillar 777 in 1/90th scale, and #4110 a 769B in 1/80th scale which will both work in 1/87th scale. I have the 769.

Nice layout. I like what you've done. I'm in the process of locating the caterpillar yellow version 992. Hard to come by.
