Sheepscot made both a Manitowoc 3900 truck crane and crawler crane in 2008 in 1:87 scale. Locating either is a task in its self. I'm looking for an old school crawler crane in HO .

Not a fan of the unaffordable die cast HO cranes in current production. I've given thought of using a HO Kibri Menck crane as a starter for an American crawler crane.

Anybody have any ideas on an HO crane ?

Kinda of dated but Shinsei made a P&H/Kobe/Shinko 955 1/93rd Scale which works fine in 1/87 scale. It has a working clamshell, and hoists. Its actually a really nice piece, and might even make a good base model for a custom. They are inexpensive (cost around 15-25 dollars for one new, and even less loose/incomplete) They also made a truck mounted one too.

One I have,

Hi Mike,

Thanks for sharing. Trying to stay away from the toy look but HO modeling does have that "three foot rule". Beside most people haven't a clue what their looking at anyway. It might make a good base model. Scratch the boom, crawler and keep the house. Thanks for taking the time to dig it out.
