Hello!
I've bought a 1:50 scale Lionel kit of a shovel, and am wondering exactly what shovel it is a model of. Anyone know?
It should build into a pretty good looking model with a few extra details - walkway and railings round the sides and back, glass in the windows, yellow painted body, satin black everything else, decals etc.

Thanks Mark! Found some pictures online to go off. Any photos online of your other shovels? (nice profile pic!)

that kit makes a nice base for a 1/87 mining shovel. i started one years ago but never finished it. also i think its closer to 1/64 scale as it seems small to be 1/50

Measure the height of the cab door. For a 1/50 model it should be close to 30mm or 1.2"
That's my guide when I don't know the scale.

I took one of these kits along with a Lionel P&H truck crane model and scratch built a pile driver crane.

I assume it's 1:50 scale. The door measures 31mm high. The cabin is quite narrow, but I'm not familiar with the real machine.

Yes, I found this picture too. Very useful, especially the walkway. I'll post pictures up when I get the kit built.
By the way RI Craneman, nice custom you did there.

Just about finished, but needs a few decals (P&H, plus the 955 designation number, and maybe a mining company - Taylor Woodrow?)

I added cab glass and a screen guard, plus internal winding gear and some weights. I also put some RH120C tracks on it. Good kit, would look good in red I think.

Hi Dragline fan, can you tell me the name of the website please? Those decals look perfect. I may have a go at making my own though
