Question for those who've disassembled these trucks, how do you remove the plastic headlights. I'm in the process of repainting one and haven't the slightest clue as to how they come of. Reason being is that the paint went bad on the hood so I have to strip it using a chemical stripping agent. Other than that progress pics will follow.

I think they have a pin on the back that is pressed in to a hole in the back of the hood behind the light. They will probably break off and need to be gently glued back on.

The T880's have no pin, they are just a clear plastic lens glued over a silver painted area to resemble a head light. I remove them with an exacto knife. I use the blade to pry the lens off, or to pry open a spot I can get a small pick into to finish prying off lens. I have come across a few that have been really stubborn. I got them off but the lens needed a bit of touch up with a file before being glued back on after a fresh coat of paint.. The black plastic piece on bottom of hood under headlights can be a tough removal too, but I go at it the same way.. Good luck

Brad That worked, managed to break the little plastic piece under the lights on the driver side but noting super glue can't fix.

Just a note - Careful when gluing the clear parts back together, some superglue will cause "fogging" of the clear areas from the vapor. I use zap-a-gap brand (sparingly) and haven't had that issue.

As promised some update pics Here is the truck without the wrecker body, I ended up breaking one of the pins on the lift axle so I'm still figuring out a solution.  And here is the truck partially back together, still waiting on the hood to dry and then it's painting the black trim and the cab lights.

Update, had to repainting the hood for the 4th time fingers crossed. Got the box started and installed the hoist.

Not to hijack your thread, but I recently did a T880 repaint. This thread came in handy at the right time!  Close enough orange to the Cat CT680. Hoping to do a Sword KW T800w next in the same color.
