The demise of P & H is at hand, Komatsu is to buy Joy Global. They intend to operate it as a stand alone subsidiary and will retain all the trade marks. Heard Cat say that with BE.

Looks like it will just be the clash of the two titans then... Very interesting developments in the mining sector over the past few years.

Massive news !
Intersting that Komatsu America Corp is buying, not Komatsu Japan.
Hopefully they keep the legendary P&H and Letourneau brand names as long as possible.

Komatsu Japan owns Komatsu America. P & H and Le Tourneau will be gone by 2017 when the company is integrated into Komatsu, the same way Demag was. When I look at Komatsu hydraulic shovels, I see basically a Demag. I suppose I will feel the same way about P & H shovels, another icon gone down the pan.

LeTourneau is gone already, the last lot of wheel loaders we delivered where badged as P&H

Very surprised to hear the news but, after looking at their product lines with very minimal product overlap it's surprising it hasn't happened sooner

I have been hearing rumors about a WA1600 & WA1800 for awhile but the issue was the availability of large enough tyres (as LeTourneau own the tyre specs for the 1850 & 2350 apparently?)
