Hi Guys, new member here , been lurking for quite a while and finally got around to joining up . Saw A recent post by Paul in his Gas Rig thread about hoping to see more load builds so I thought I'd throw in my take of a trailer load. There's still a ways to go but I'm happy with how it's coming along . Hopefully photobucket will play nice now.... Cheers Marty

That's superb Marty These oil/gas refinery modules make great looking loads, especially for SPMTs. Please keep posting updates of your progress. SPMT by Paul Moar, on Flickr

Thanks for the kind words Gentlemen . I will post updates , my first attempt at scratch building anything like this was the Tower , it looks the part but is a bit rough if you look close . With that in mind I'm not rushing and being a bit fussier with this one . Question for anyone now , there is a bit of open space left on the top deck but I can't come up with anything to fill the spot . Any ideas / thoughts / suggestions ? . Anyway , heres my 1st attempt...

Marty K,
Being away from home, I won't be able to make any closer picture until next week, sorry. The equipment you refer to are Zon Models kits of Goldhofer turntables, which were made in white metal by Theo van der Zon, together with his Goldhofer THP modules range. I just modified them to fit the MVI Nicolas 8-line modular trailers. MVI is a French company, specialized in 1:43 scale fire engines, which produced in the seventies a 1:50 model of Nicolas 4-line modules: all lines could be steered from the tow bar, in theory as this required a huge work (all steering rods had to be built to correct length, lines directional plates to be drilled to receive them, etc). I gave up on my models and glued all lines in a fixed position.
Regards. Guy

Finally some progress , most all of the pipework is done bar a couple of simple bits .Hopefully this should be the last dry run before final paint and assembly. Yeah this is really nice. Hpw have you been bending the tubing? I'm sure it'll look fantastic once painted.

Paul.. Cheers mate , there was a few "S" words used during the assembly , I blame it on fat fingers and eyes that aint 21 anymore....but the further on I get the more I'm liking it Davie82.. Hummer got it in 1 , all the bends are done with Plastruct elbows , they have a pretty good range of them . As a side note to the bends , when I started this build I was able to source some of the tube and beams etc locally , and the rest I got sent out from Plastruct. Some of the tube I got locally that i thought was plastruct , I have a feeling might have actually been Evergreen . The OD of the tubes are the same , but the Evergreen has a bigger ID and doesn't fit the Plastruct fittings to well....just something to maybe be aware of . Hummer13..Cheers mate , I did the design to scale on 3d cad before i started to try and make sure everything would fit , I got it mostly right! It was a bit of work upfront but made it much easier once I started cuttin n glueing stuff...thats just what worked for me. Cheers everyone Marty
