Bought two more and have been dull coating them, and added grease lines to the 2954D. I hate the look of rivets, so I painted them to blend in with the machine. Would like to do more to them, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Rivets painting is also usually my very first modification too, as models look too toyish otherwise.

Still, did you bought the 348 with that wheel setup (this could go across muskegs this way!!) or did you kitbashed it yourself?

Yeah, I had took them off another 948L that I had made into just a 4 tire machine. I added some bead locks on it, dunno if they look good or not.

Yes, they certainly look good.
I have never seen that type of tire setup on forestry skidders before, (although it's being used on peat moss farms) but it's an interesting option.

Possibly a set of wider hi flotation tires (Bigfoot trucks type) would be a less expensive option in real life, but let's say this contractor had wheels in inventory Wink

The dull coat makes a huge difference. On my 2954s I took and cut off the crowd cylinder guard and used styrene to make a new one you could see through. Also made some grab rails like the real machines have. That's quite the skidder. Dang near amphibious we don't use duals around here. I have a box od bolts and hardware sitting in the shop for putting duals on one of our customers 948s.

Little mods can go along way on making a model unique and better.

Thanks a cutter, I appreciate it. I just bought another skidder and buncher and did the same tire swap to them and added some window guards and some paint to them. I wish the detail on them was a little better, but I like the price of them.

Nice models, and the dull coat works really well. They're not east to find in the UK

Thanks James, I appreciate it. These two I left shiny this time. Window guards, winch cable and painted the cylinder hose guards too.

Those look nice. The window guards that they come with look kinda cheesy. Those ones look much better. Winch looks good too. Nice work Wink

Thanks logmax, the ones that come on it are painted on looks like. I used an old hydraulic filter mesh to make them. The guys around here only have them on the side windows and not the back. Would like to do some more customizing to them, just running outta ideas. I'd also like to do some concepts too.
