I assume that many of you watched this unfold. It's really sad that some folks get caught up in the bidding war phenomenon. I guess Doctor Rock can retire soon if things keep going like this. The winner could have bought a brass 1:24th dozer for this amount. https://www.ebay.com/itm/CATERPILLAR-D9H-BULLDOZER-BY-CCM/253324992566?hash=item3afb58a036:g:R9kAAOSw-xVaO7Aw

The nearly 20 years I have been watching and selling on ebay, tell me we'll see another one of these items sell for a LOT less in the coming weeks.

I wouldn't be too surprised if it gets re listed due to lack of payment. I bet you what probably happened is one of the earlier bidders put his max bid real high so he'd be sure to win it and the last bidder just put in a astronomically high bid to be sure he won, only to find out the earlier bidders max bid was that high, Thats the only way I can see such a jump from $750 to almost $1900 in a span of 20 seconds. I have a hard time believing the winner will be able to cough up the cash.

If you look at the bidder list something is wrong. The $1850 should be right under the top, not under the $700.

Someone must have wanted it very badly. I've used that technique before when I've seen something I really want. Figure out my ceiling cost and put that on the first bid then let the bidding play out. Sometimes you end up only paying half of what you bid, those are always nice. I'm not surprised to see Cat5130 list that at the same price. It'll probably stay at the price until someone pays it. Of course that dick Cat5130 would list it at that price. That guy is such an ass to deal with. Now you're going to see a bunch of listings for the D9H I do believe.

Pardon my ignorance but it seems like a lot of money for a model with a plastic exhaust pipe.

Wow thats a statement. I did deal a few times with Cat5130 and I had never any negative issue with him, also price wise all my deals where OK.

There is another one on Ebay, but do a close up of it facing to the right. The paint job is terrible. Didn't the first shipment of these have problems way back when?

I live very close to "Cat5130". I've only had the pleasure of dealing with him one time. He isn't an odd fellow and has more money than most us guys on this forum. Let's just say he recently purchased a second house to store his inventory in and he has rooms filled with CCM, THW, Sword, and any other expensive diecast you can think of. He's just sitting on it. You want to know why I don't have a ccm 385?, because that guy bought 75 of them and I can't touch them for any less than $500. This D9 that just sold you guys are talking about, he probably has 40 of them and they will stay at that price until he sells them all. He doesn't care and has the money to just sit on them.. unfortunately it's guys like him that ruin a hobby. End rant. Hope I didn't offend anyone, just my 2 cents and opinion

It's not the guys like him that ruin it. It's the guys that BUY from him that ruin it. Cat5130 is in my "do not buy from" list.

An auction such as this is why I have started to rely mostly on Buy It now or Make Offer style listings on Ebay. I remember other 1/50 pieces selling for astronomical prices lately including the Norscot JLG lift going for 299.99, and the Grove Scissor lift at the $100 range (I bought one loose at the flea market this summer in Philly for $6). Cat5130 reminds of a scalper, and although he does come across as having great customer service and being good to deal with, he should be at the prices that he sells at.

Keep it in the dark and out of the sun and you won't know LOL I mean the model was less than $200. For that price it's really good. But those days are gone.

I think cat5130 is seeing the writing on the wall with the CCM 349's lol. He is stuck with 5 of them. I bet the Diecast masters is going to be just as nice as the CCM, the only difference might be the opening doors. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Caterpillar-349E-LME-Excavator-1-48-CCM-Diecast-Brand-New-2015/202046703257?hash=item2f0aec0699:g:3BsAAOSwnw9aENVy
