I can see a bridge removal diorama with a couple of cranes and support trucks. Then maybe 1-2 pieces of dirt equipment hiding in the background??? It was pretty spectacular, and the ones that are still available are worth a look. Has to be a giant quarry with rock faces, piles of rocks, ramps, trucks, mining shovels, blast drills etc. That's what I'd like to build one day anyway!

What about a giant landfill like Freshkills Park that is so big that you even use customized mining equipment? With a port side on the left where the garbage is delivered, weighing station for trucks, then the dumping, spreading, compaction action. Now come the scrapers spreading earth!.... and then the recultivated area with grass and trees and everything is nice and green again on the right.

Good idea Mr Scholz! It'd be great fun making all the landfill waste - you could put rubbish in your kitchen blender and blitz it untill it comes out 1:50 scale!

Haha! Yeah, put some used coffee dust with it to get it real dirty! But seriously, with a large area like that the possibilty to demonstrate the development of a landsight is very tempting.

Nice progress so far Ethan on your new Dio! As far as suggestions, would be interesting to turn a heavily brushed, and tree covered area into a park, build several jogging/bike trails, a couple of foot bridges, maybe an outside amphitheater, bathroom facility, playground, community garden area, parking lot etc. Not really a dio to showcase your larger equipment,but more mid to compact size equip.

Hi Basketball Man, looks like it will be a very ambitious project. When I saw your base design I was reminded of this gentleman's diorama and thought maybe it could provide some inspiration and ideas: Mampfi's DioramaI really love how it covers so many themes and allows a diverse array of models to be displayed simultaneously. Whatever you decide on, I wish you all the best. Take care.

I would do a city on one side with a building under construction (foundation work or cranes) or maybe a sewer replacement on a busy street. On the other side I would do a highway with construction or maintenance going on and in the middle have a forested area with a road linking the two sides. Whatever you do will be great though, your dios always are!

I have an idea, my brother who was an engineer with the State of New York and a consulting firm did a road project that linked one major road with another, the new road went thru some wet lands. The company doing the work used some new construction technology where they put down a layer of Styrofoam material and then layers of dirt and then asphalt. The new road actually "floats" on the wet land area. Your table looks like a good candidate for a "link road" project with the 2 main roads and the link road. Can also install the traffic lights at the intersections!!

Wow, so many ideas...what...to...choose  Ohh that's right I have a few of those scraper thingings hanging around. I really still don't have it all nailed down yet. I do know that we will have some terrain to conquer. I am leaning to a new road construction. I am tempted to just photograph my pans running around in dirt all day. Love your dioramas, but guys, nobody takes the bucket off to set pipe that small. I would fire the whole crew for wasting the time LOL
