Fellers: I am thinking of getting one of the Hitachi excavators made by TMC. I have never owned a TMC model. Are they worth the price in quality? CAW

Which one? Highly recommend the 470, you can't go wrong with it at all!

Agreed. I have both also. The detail on them is some of the best, including the graphics. Not sure what they're going for now but I'm glad I got them. Mike

Not trying to toot my own horn, but I just took a short look at a 470. TMC Hitachi 470It is every bit as good as the WSI Hitachi 870, maybe a little better.

Quinella, I bought a Zaxis 350LC as a load for a truck but am really impressed with it. I would not quite put it in the same category as the WSI 870 but it is close. I have some photos here if you wish: https://flic.kr/s/aHskuAEn6KThanks, Paul R

You can't go wrong with the TMC 470. Easily a better model than the CCM 349E. My Facebook page: NorCalDiecastCustomsClifton

Thanks to each one of you for your posts. I ordered one and cannot wait to get it. Paul, your pictures were terrific. It looks like the detail on these is great. I'll be looking of r other, similar size excavator models. I want a great Komatsu, CAT, and others. Any recommendations? CCM models are great, but lack the detail I'm looking for. I love all the detail on these Japanese brand models. CAW

Grab one of the Komatsu PC400/Pc450 by the Japanese company Kyowa before they’re gone on eBay. They were selling for a decent price (below $100 shipped from japan) when I believe they were retailed around $350. Not sure of why the drastic drop in price but it’s another one of those “must haves” in the collection. The detail on it too is phenomenal from the armored hoses to the easy off bucket that’s attached by small screws. I’d also recommend the Doosan DX380 by an unknown manufacturer in China. Excellent detail on this one too and something different because you don’t see many Doosan models out there.
