Gents; I have been arguing with collectors for 20 years about the exact scale of the matchbox/Dinky 1956 Mack B-61 in orange livery AND the 1955 Mack B-61 in McDonald's livery. I KNOW the scale is 1/50th. However, so many sellers on Ebay and others list the scale at 1:43, and some even say it's 1:64th. Chime in here and tell me what you think. I want this settled. The certificate inside the boxes says 1:50th. These scale out to 1/50th also. So what do you think? CAW

Craig, I suppose that you refer to this model: I agree with you: the scale is 1/50. As it is a Dinky Toys, people tend to think - wrongly - that everything produced by the British company was in a 1/43 scale, like their late cars. Lots of models, produced before 1960, were in fact in a 1/48 scale or even smaller. When Matchbox took-over Dinky, they produced very few 1/50 scale models, the "Reiseburo Ruoff" Mercedes-Benz coach being one of these. I hope it helps. Guy

At one point in my life I do recall having a 1/64th scale of this model. I played with that thing forever. if I can find it I will try to post a pic. But it was 1/64th. back on topic that mack is 1/50th though.

Yes, these Dinky Macks came in smaller scales, usually with trailers from companies like Pennzoil...etc. I cannot remember those scale Macks, but I'm thinking 1:87th. My post here is specifically regarding these orange Macks, and the red McDonalds 1955 Mack. They are 1:50th. Matchbox Dinky also made some 1:58 trucks like the Kenworth w900, the Pete 379, the Freightliner COE, and the red Mack CH. Also in this older 1:50 series are the 1939 Peterbilt in red and black, and the Diamond T in blue and white. These also did not come with a trailer. All models are fantastic. CAW
Guy: Can you hook me up with Dan's Models for one of those Mack Cabovers? Craig

Ctaig, Here is the link to Dan Models website: http://www.miniatur-models.com/models.htmlYou could get these items from Tekno as well, but apparently they are out of stock these days: http://www.tekno.nl/nl/webshop/dan-models.htmlI don't know if DHS Diecast have any of these Macks, though; I suppose that you should try to find them in the US first. I hope it helps. Guy

I measured my MACK using the distance across the rear of the cab as a comparison. The dimension of the real truck should be approximately 70 1/2" according to the brochure information. That should be 1.41" in 1:50 scale. The model measures 1.392" which is pretty close to 1:50. Actually 1:50.7 scale.

Craig if you goggle dimensions of a 1956 Mack B-61 it will give you the actual measurements in inches. Better yet I will email you the page along with directions on how to use a tape measure, so you understand what the real little lines mean. Steve

If so, that is also 1:50th scale. Does it have the butterfly hood that opens? It's smaller than these Macks!!

Craig I had my wife type that response in for me because I was busy doing something. I will relay your displeasure about the spelling to her, once I’m done flogging her. That is your second correction for me in as many days, I thought you were retiring. Steve

AHAH!!!! We have a mystery on our hands. Randy has created a whodunit mystery. So, the first guy that can prove who made "barkerjoh"'s truck gets a free WSI product from Chuck's gracious heart. Thanks Chuck. You make this hobby so much better. So I say, Winross may be right. But it could be an old Matchbox or Midge toy. Who's next? CAW

That's definitely a Winross White 9000, judging from the color it might have been once attached to a Preston trailer, but in reality they've made so many different variants in so many different colors without any logos on the tractor theres really no way of telling what set it's from. I've got quite a few of these, they're pretty nice all metal trucks. (Pic.Credit Jim Brandt/Truckhobby.com)

Looks like we have a winner. I never collected Winross, so I don't know much about them. Chuck, go ahead and send the gift to WCollins. Exkavate, why don't you make a heavy hauler with a yacht trailer and boat. That's the closest you will ever get to the water. CAW
