Here's a little project using a Lionel P&H 955 kit and a Lonestar toy digger to create a cable shovel. Lots of lead inside the body to give a satisfying weight. Joal PC1100 tracks. |

Wow ! Way to dress up the old Lionel kit, you would never know that was the base model.

Beautiful job! Is that close to 1/50 scale?

Thanks! Scale is about 1:55, but just about works around other 1:50 models I think.

Very nice. I still have mine from 60s. I thought about lift crane but never pursued it. Before all offerings now,I bought lionel offerings for the truck crane and shovel in 80s.

I stripped the tracks (always such a pain with those Joals!). Another Lionel custom coming - a dragline. Stay tuned!

		    Hi Jamie,
that's another fantastic custom from you. The cable backhoe fits the 655 really well, great idea! Such cable backhoes with a short dipper stick were very common in Sweden. Can't wait to see your dragline.

 Cheers,
 Max

I always love seeing projects from you. You take the most benign and overlooked items and turn them into gold.
