The painted sample of this trailer looks really good. Can't wait to add one to the collection! I always wondered why they referred to these trailers as a "wobble wheel". I am assuming it is due to the fact that since the trailer has spoke rims, that the wheels would "wobble" down the road if the runout was off like every other truck and trailer with dayton wheels? I could be completely wrong though as these trailers were way before my time.

I think they are called "wobble wheel" because the trailer has an independent suspension for each wheel.
They were designed for heavy haul and discontinued in the 1960s as far as I know.

Their suspension causes the wobble.

There is an old forum post that has some information and photos of these trailers.
I cant get the link to work. If you google" Rogers wobble wheel beam trailer" it should come up.

CAW Found this explanation from an earlier post on this subject: Quote:"The reason we call it the wobble wheel is because when the trailer is empty , there is no weight on any of the wheels , making them wobble around alot. Sometimes if you back-up and turn empty with the wobble wheel , the wheels shove against each other and some crazy stuff happens to them , but they go back to normal" Paul R
