ASAM Models (Alan Smith) has announced that they will cease production at the end of the year. This is the end of an era. I have really enjoyed collecting their models over the years.
Good luck Alan in your retirement.

Ditto Robert> I bet I owned 100 or more over the last 25 years. I sold them all, not thinking that I would ever miss them. Then came Sword trucks and the race was on. Then ever diecast maker jumped into the truck game. Some are good, some are lousy. Thank goodness Heavy Hauler Replicas came to town. They are heads above all the other truck makers. The thing about ASAM models was how heavy they were. You felt like you really got your money's worth. The detail was great, and the smell of the box when you opened it was really cool. Good luck and thanks Alan. Craig Whitley

End of an era. I bought a lot of kits from Roger Hull and a few completed trucks and trailers. I had Roger order an Australian Mack Titan from Alan many years ago. I still have it today and one of my favorites! I just recently ran it through the shop! 100_5197 by Ken Wheeler, on Flickr"/> 100_5202 by Ken Wheeler, on Flickr"/> 100_5201 by Ken Wheeler, on Flickr"/> 100_5217 by Ken Wheeler, on Flickr"/>

That's too bad but I guess a well deserved retirement. I only have one ASAM Model and its a white Mack Stone Slinger. I think it was Chuck's third Open House and the second Open House that I attended (didn't know about the first one). Mike M. and I were checking into our hotel late Friday night and we saw Chuck sitting in the lobby talking to a gentleman that we later found out was Alan Smith. He had come to the show and brought four models with him stuffed in his suitcase, four stone slingers on different truck bodies and at the time they were the ONLY four that Alan had made. I'm not sure if he ever made more of them. I was lucky enough to get the white one and Mike got a red one - not sure what truck the slinger his was mounted on. Its is a beautiful model, one of my favorites in my collection and am happy to say that it is still in perfect shape with no zinc rot or wear and tear. Really miss those early open houses, those were the days....
