...wins these ridiculous auctions.
No, I am not mad or upset, yes I understand it's not my money so why am I concerned. I just want to know who pays the stupid money for some of these models that easily obtainable at cheaper prices from private sellers, other dealers and so on.
Personal opinion? Shill bidders, call it what you want. There's no way that some of the auctions go for that high! Why can't we do on-site bidding anymore, live and in person like the old days. Too much is hidden behind on the internet and screens.
One bidder spent over $20k in wins, premiums and shipping costs alone. I don't believe that one bit.

Maybe there are shill bidders but unless it's someone bidding on behalf of DHS the items are selling for what someone is willing to pay for them. We all know about what these models are worth, some may be worth more to certain people for various reasons, so if someone is willing to get into a bidding war with a shill bidder then that's up to them. The prices do seem to be a source of ridicule amongst a lot of people in the model community after each auction. You also have to admit that some people get pretty good deals on some models, even after factoring in fees and shipping. Facebook: NorCalDiecastCustomsInstagram: NorCalDiecastCustomsClifton
