Strangely enough, tractor cab doors glazing was not foreseen by Matchbox. The trailer, which simply looks like a larger Whitlock unit, has lost in the development its manufacturer's name (a Matchbox "invention"?):

Even if they are better known for their 1/87 scale products, Wiking, the German modeler, also produced a few units in a 1/50 scale:

The GBC 8KT: an industrial success!
Berliet will produce approx. 17 200 of these trucks, among which 16 500 - fitted with various bodies - will be sold to the French Army in the 60s/70s(*):

Late 90s, the French Army, then having a limited budget, ask Renault to renovate their remaining Berliet GBC 8KT trucks by replacing, among other things, the original multi-fuel engine and the Charbonneaux-designed cab by a more powerful engine and a cab of the manufacturer(*):

Short trip to the USA with a local reefer:

Kenworth T 680 6X4/2 tractor (WSI model) and Great Dane Classic LT-50 2-axle reefer (modified Tonkin Replicas(*) model, to be completed),

Note (*): the 53ft (16.15 metres) Wabash reefer 1/53 Tonkin Replicas model, has been changed into a 50ft (15.24 metres) Great Dane reefer (below) in a 1/50 scale:

It just requires to fit the Tonkin Replicas model with slightly larger wheels, reposition forward the tank and glue Evergreen plastic sheets on both sides and roof (still pending), to get back to the Great Dane reefer width (102' or 2.59 metres) and height (162' or 4.11 metres).

Pictures from the American second-hand road equipment "Truckpaper".
