Here are a few pictures of the Sarens Scania with its stepframe and a load. I seem to have ran out of chains Think

i think he thinks its funny that you ran out of chains.... cause he is the chain and strap seller of DHS, sort of like plugging himself for business without actually saying it

Oh well..............that's fine I guess. I just hope it wasn't seen as a dig because it wasn't. I did have some chains and they have been used elsewhere. They add a but of realism so are nice to use when possible.

ok i have a question.... what is that sign plate on the front of the truck that says "STGO CAT3" i assume that is the license plate type, like the category truck it is identifying how much weight it can haul?

its a nice model for sure, Sarens really do have a great livery!

Basically yes. It is a license for over size loads and there are 3 categories, STGO CAT3 being the highest.

There are other that will know more detail as mine is limited in this area.

It stands for Special Types General Order
Cat 1 allows operation up to 50tonne which is slightly more than a normal haulage truck can gross.
Cat 2 is up to 80tonne
Cat 3 80-150 tonne.

This all depends upon whether the vehicle is type approved by the manufacturer
Two days notice is required to move at these weights. Above 150t requires a special movement order and can take weeks to organise.

Kryten is the man who'll correct anything I may have got wrong as he does movement orders every day for a uk hh firm.

yeah Graham explained it to me one day, i just didnt remember if those letters signified the weight thing.... i would most of the trucks would be STGO CAT 3 then since pretty much every haulage company in Europe likes to load up the trailers as much as they can LOL

As an aside, crane ballast is of course a "divisible" load ie. Splits into smaller 10 t sections. The STGO plates are for Abnormal Indivisible loads.

Crane ballast carriers gain an exception to operate at high weights - I assume as it reduces the amount of vehicles required to accompany the crane.

I think we had a discussion on here about it a few years ago but if you can find the thread, you deserve a medal!

Incidentally, my Sarens Scania landed on these shores today - it's a lovely model - but a mudguard was broken. Nice models - shame about the packaging...

Yes indeed, and the rest Sad

A hanging off rear mudguard, broken off at the top door mirror, a side box broken off and a snapped in two rear light on the trailer(luckily I found the other half in the box).

All parts were super glued back in place but I can't help but feel that my one has had a kicking somewhere along the line.

Not what I wanted to find when opening the box of my dream truck model Sad

Scania V8. The best sounding truck in the world.

This is a really striking livery and the new tooling on the tower looks very nice.
