Once the mining excavator is ready, a "tow truck" is backing in:

Sleipner recommends a 260/360 class dumper (240 class as a minimum) for the move of that 565 tonnes excavator. LorraMine selected the Terex MT4400 for that operation:

As a bonus, a few pictures sent by "Manugo" about the crashed car, posted some time ago:

The Toyota Siku model was completely destroyed first:

Then "Manugo" proceeded to some kind of "reconstructive surgery":

The end-result:

Guy great pictures all around, what a great post this is. The details and ideas these guys come up with is just incredible and your narration is an added bonus.
Thanks again.

A few pictures of the LorraMine workshop by another member of the French forum, who paid a site visit on his way back from the Bauma in 2016:

Today some new equipment is being delivered to the mine.
The convoy at the main gate, during all mandatory safety checks:

After checks are completed, some sort of huge structural beams are moving to the maintenance area:

The second heavy haulage set is loaded with 4 strange dual poles. Legs? Lifting rams?...?

The 3rd convoy simply carries a 40' maritime container. Is that housing some electrical equipment?

Last, but not least, a shipment of some ancillary devices:

Our photographer has been mobilized to attend the unloading and erection of that new equipment: to be continued (next time).

Regards.

I really like the interior looking-down shot of the shop, so cool. This is a really good talent you have, your ability to create realistic patina is impressive, especially the details like making the tires look like they are compressing from weight.

In the meantime, the Kalmar unload all "poles":

The first girder is positioned behind the Bucyrus 495 HR mining shovel, onto both long "poles" either side (these look like long stroke hydraulic rams, in fact):

The shovel crawls back to get its counterweight right above the girder:

Is this some sort of lifting device for mining giants? I'm sure that we'll know more next time.

This is all just on another level!! I always wanted to have a good look around a mining site and now I feel my dream has come true, albeit in 1:50 scale!

And the winner is... catkom3 ( in spite of the "g" swap for a "t", the jury validates the response).

The lifting device used in LorraMine is effectively produced by MegaTraction Equipment Inc.: http://www.megatraction.com/

Some of the pictures that were used to prepare the 1/50 future operation:

Guy can’t wait to see tomorrow’s post now, this is incredible. Do they sell their used parts, will we see a dozer blade in the Equipment Trader in the near future.
Thanks

"Pas de problème, mon ami et bravo pour ton français" (no problem, my friend and congratulations for your French).

The erection process of the MegaTraction equipment continues with the front girder:

The Kalmar forklift picks-up 2 transition pieces:

These are installed under the superstructure at front:
