Steve,

I used TAM brochure to get directions to build the workshop but i'm not 100% sure that this one really exists.

I hope it helps.

During almost 20 years, the Colonel Khadafi had the world largest irrigation network built in Libya: the Great Man-Made River Project (or GMMR Project).
Approx. 2000 kilometres of buried network were built between 1984 and 1994, additional 1500kms were laid in 1990-1996, followed by a third phase during the period 2002-2005. The largest concrete pipe elements (7.3 metres long and 4m in diameter) were carried on network construction sites by several hundreds of MAN/Schmitz heavy haulage combinations:

MAN 40-440 DFA 6x4/2 tractor (modified Conrad model) and Schmitz-Cargobull 2-line low bed semi-trailer with a 1-line front dolly (Conrad model) loaded with an Al Nahr Co water network concrete pipe element of 73 tonnes (homemade load)

To be continued.

I have no evidence that any 40-440 MAN was ever used on the GMMR Project, but numerous MAN 32.365 DFA 6x6 tractors (Dong Ah picture below) and newer generation MAN tractive units (Al Nahr Co picture at bottom) could be seen in the Libyan desert during these 20 years:

Guy great pictures of the project, and of your customized models of it. Your homemade pipe matches up very well with the real thing.
Thanks Steve

Guy the yellow tractor and Lowbed with the Liebherr track loader, is the tractor a Renault? Do you have any pictures of the 1/1 Renault with a single or tandem axle in heavy duty action. The Volvo is also very good looking, not a favorite of the forum but I I ran those VNL’s and VHD’s and had nothing but good luck with them.

That truck is a Renault CBH in 3-axle tractor version. It sold very well, not only in France, but in Third World countries as well (Africa, Middle- and Far-East...), as it was very robust and could be overloaded.
A few other pictures of the Renault VI CBH-CLM range, which was mainly sold as a heavy duty vehicle.: https://www.fondationberliet.org/ressources-documentaires/galerie/gamme-c-cbh-clm-rvi-chantier/

I hope it helps.

Guy thanks for the link to the Renault’s, great pictures and they do look very heavy duty. The truck has a nice look to it especially in that yellow color.
Thanks

Modifications in progress on some vintage Siku tractors, produced long ago in the 1/50 scale:

- French farming set at front: Hanomag Robust 900A (S) 4x4/2 tractor (modified Siku model) towing a Coder R.P.U. BET 1+1-axle dropside beet transport trailer, locally fitted with dual tires all round (modified Dinky Toys model),
- German combination at rear: Hanomag Robust 900 (S) 4x2/2 tractor (Siku model) and a VEB Fahrzeugbau VK3 1+1-axle drawbar trailer chassis, equipped with an ex-US Army Butler water tank (made from Siku, Solido and Lion Car bits and pieces).

To be continued.

Another modification of a Siku Actros 1/50 scale model.
The set was equipped with Tekno wheels all round, the carrier chassis lengthened at rear to get a Rockinger tow hook and a spare wheel installed; the drawbar trailer chassis was also modified with a thinner "goose neck" area and was fitted with a new front axle assembly, spare wheel, etc:

Mercedes-Benz Actros 2548L MP3 6x2/4 carrier equipped with a HLV milk tank and an on-board delivery station, towing a HLW/Mafa 1+1-axle milk drawbar trailer with delivery compartment (modified Siku models)

Jean-Francois did this Volvo/Filliat combination using a Corgi tractor and a Minitrucks kit semi-trailer:

As for most of his fabrications, he completely rebuilt the kit, except for the tank itself. Plenty of details were added, such as opening manholes, tool box, folding safety railing...:
