Exkvate3140 wrote:Guy I have one of those Tamrock drills, how did you modify yours? I simply cut all extensions and glued them back in retracted mode, in order to ease the transport of the Tamrock unit. I hope this helps. Guy

Mr. Scholz wrote:Hello Guy,
I'm absolutely enthusiastic about the MiniCam Renault/Berliet 4x4 in RAZEL-livery. Very beautiful trucks and models [...] Max, I agree with you, both 4x4 Berliet and Renault trucks are very precise 1/50 models of plant equipment support trucks, widely used by most of French civil engineering companies at that time. MiniCams should be complimented for both products. Regards. Guy

Guy the bucket on the front 325 looks very good. Is that a custom bucket done by you? Steve

Steve,
The Caterpillar 325 (from NZG I suppose) is one of Jean-Jacques' excavators shot by him recently: I didn't notice that it had been fiited with a black bucket, replacing the standard one. I shall inquire and come back to you with an answer.

De Rooy (Holland) revolutionized truck races when he presented his dual engines truck to the 1986 Paris-Dakar rally race. That year, the truck had some problems and didn't manage to reach Dakar. Repaired and upgraded into the TurboTwin II model of nearly 1000hp, it will end up first of the truck category of the 1987 rally race. The unit, together with one of its assistance trucks, before the start of the rally race in Versailles (France): DAF/De Rooy FAV 3600 DKS 4x4/2 dual engines race truck (left) and DAF/Ginaf FAV 3600 DKS 4x4/2 assistance truck fitted with a tarpaulin bed (right): Portegies models. Number 600, which ended first in the trucks category of the 1987 rally race and ranked 11th overall (general classification including also cars and motorbikes), was driven by the De Rooy, Geusens and Van de Rijt trio: Number 632, driven by Dieker, Ketelaars and Tessens, will end 56th in the general classification and 9th of the trucks rally race: Regards. Steve, That valve was produced by a German modeler making heavy loads in 1/50 and 1/87 scales, trading under the Westerwalder Werkzeugschmiede name. Some of his products can be seen here: http://www.hansebubeforum.de/showtopic.php?threadid=16987&pagenum=2&s=a340c2c6f62a87470e6e8f313c6db133I found it for a low price on a German forum as the current owner decided to put it back for sale. I just added the wooden top protection and built the transport frame, then searched for some technical data on the web. I hope this helps. Guy

Two British haulage combinations reproduced by Corgi in a 1/50 scale: At front: Scania R470 6x4/2 tractor* and Crane-Fruehauf 3-axle flatbed semi-trailer loaded with 14 steel beams (origin and weight unknown), At rear: MAN TGA 25-??? FPLS 6x2/4 tractor and Crane-Fruehauf 3-axle curtainsider semi-trailer. Note (*): as often with Corgi, 6x4 tractors are built using a 6x2/4 chassis, resulting in a far too short wheelbase.
