Thanks for an excellent review and all the photos Steven. Please keep up the good work.

I was also reading the Announcements page and couldn't believe some of the deals Liebherr are offering on some models at the Vertikal show - an LR1750 for £232....o:

Scania V8. The best sounding truck in the world.

The best deal was the Liebherr LTM11200-9.1 at £199 and one of the cheapest models was the PR734 bulldozer from Brami at £10.20. Suffice to say, they had a very busy couple of days. While lifting models will be prominent at Vertikal next week, they will also be taking remaining construction stock, so anyone who missed out at Hillhead has another chance to bag a bargain.

Excellent review of the Kleemann Steven. I'll be picking mine up tomorrow. Only drawback (as with the Sandvik) is the lack of linked tracks. As has been shown on the Keestrack Frontier screener this can be very well done with plastic tracks. I'm sure Conrad has the capability, so I wonder why both Sandvik and Kleemann decided against it in the production process.

Oh well, maybe Eric has some nice tracks to fit both models.. Whistle Think

Hi Remko

I asked Conrad about the tracks when they first released the Sandvik model and they said that it would not be possible to produce metal linked tracks with such a small profile and still look realistic and to scale. The amount of metal needed for the pin to go through without braking would cause the tracks to look overscale (Remember the early Liebherr RL52 pipe layer with the linked tracks)

The tracks on the Kleemann do appear to rotate well and appear to be strong.

Remko & Steve,

What do you think is a Better Model to have in a Collection the Sandvik or Kleemann??

Kleemann looks better than the Sandvik, although the latter has the extra lightpost and articulated arm with hammer. My advise, get both! Teeth Teeth

For pictures of my model, including my other crushers, check here: Mobile Crushers @ BMF.nl

As Steven noted about the RL52 tracks, they do look odd. I have one and also an NZG RL64 and the tracks on the 64 look a lot better than the 52!!

I had noticed the Cat 583 with Spiecapag markings has the same tracks as the Liebherr RL52 (the posting i back on page 4 of this thread).

I'm a kid at heart, so I will play with any model construction vehicle from 1:87 scale to 1:1 scale!!!!

Age is a state of time NOT a state of mind!!

Both the Sandvik and Kleemann are good models. The arm and hammer on the Sandvik adds some interest while the same can be said with the final screen and return conveyor of the Kleemann. Both base models are about the same size but the Kleemann does look more impressive with the final screen added and the return conveyor in stockpile position. Both make great loads for heavy haulage rigs so as Remko said, get both.

With regard to tracks, it is possible to produce individually linked tracks small enough for the crusher models, just look at the Sandvik Di600 from Bymo. But as the tracks get smaller, they are not as reliable. Universal Hobbies models are well known for the tracks falling apart during shipping and NZG usually provide spare track pads with each model due to the fragile nature of the linkage method. Because of reliability, i can see why Conrad prefer to go down the plastic track band route and to be honest, they don't really detract too much from the overall looks of the model.

Gaz has revealed details of his next project, an Xtreme excavator bucket from Gjerstad which will fit models like the Cat 374D, Hitachi ZX870, etc. The hand sample model is pictured below and has been constructed using official technical drawings and schematics. The bucket will be cast in metal and should be available soon, both painted or unpainted for those who want to paint it to match the chosen carrier. Click on the picture below for further views of this rather interesting bucket.
