Greg Fergusons Hitachi starfish was pretty awesome, along with every other model he has done. Takes some serious skill to do custom projects like that, my hats off to him.

I'll second Matts post about the Stafish and add Greg's D6R IronWolf.
Thanks Mike for getting the facts straightened out! Edit: Jay Roltgen (Dirtboy) and Mike Delacy (mkdco) that did the D7R Tailing dozer. That model was beautiful!
noraztrans, thanks for the compliments! I can't wait to get back to work on it.

Allow me set the record straight......... Jay Roltgen (Dirtboy) did the D7R's and did the Tailings dozer as a collaboration with Mike Delacy (mkdco). I don't think Chris (Dirtman2007) has ever done a custom, at least not to my knowledge. MikesModels2011 on FacebookMikesModels2011 on YouTubeMikes Model Reviews ThreadMack Granite Project Thread

[quote=Tarantula]One of the best I have seen was accually made by a member on this forum, I do not remember who it was but the model was a crane from some asian country. The cab was a roof made out of bamboo for example. Really cool model! Niklas, that was my Wacky Asian Crane model. It was modeled in 3/8"=1 Ft. It is based on photos of a crane used in Vietnam.

Tomreh's stuff is exceptionally good, but that LTM 1500 is the best custom model I have ever seen in my life. It's mind-boggling.

Once upon a time years and years ago, this forum was PACKED with custom model builders and REALLY NICE custom models built from scratch. Showed regular models detailed to the hilt with extras. ...but, that forum is long gone. Was a shame and loss.

the best custom I ever saw is not a model, it was a diorama of a highrise or something to that effect with every detail, safety rails and netting, rebar etc etc... I know people on here know what diorama I'm talking about, I'm sure someone even has the pictures saved or can link it
