I hope they buy us 3 or 4 to replace our "finely aged" 992C's and 992D!

Allistair, That machine was a 994F prototype with a mono-boom. It was just a test machine with that set up and did not ever go into production. The basic loader is the same as the 994F though. Only difference was the mono boom. For a machine that size it would not have been stable or strong enough for mining work. Tim.

TimT, thanks for the update and the wonderful pictures. I have been wondering where the 993K was ever since Cat introduced the 992K back at Bauma. Thanks again.

Am I right in thinking this is the first "odd" numbered wheel loader? I always thought the "odd" 900 numbers were track loaders and the "even" ones were wheel loaders.??? Maybe not....

Yes ac170 you are correct and it wont be the last of this type of nomenclature changes, 770 and 772 are a departure from traditional too.

Oooooo I like it! I agree with some of the others though - it looks naked in the back. Is it just me or does the bucket look a little small compared to the loader? If I had a few extra million dollars sitting around I wouldn't mind having one of these as a sand box toy.

Tim. ahh, i see !. it appeared bigger than the earlier 994, but this may be because it was closer to the camera. i think cat should produce a bigger machine!, id like to see something capeable of loading the 797!:d/ . now that would be a team to behold!! thanks tim!

D10N,The new 993K may cost close to 2 million dollars. This new wheel loader weighs close to 50 ton more then the 992C and the 992D to show the size of it.It nice to see it with the Z-bar linkage

No problem! They waste more than that around here on a regular basis! We've got 100 793's now, so they can cough it up on some different capital expenditures!! (At least I hope so!!)

As you would expect, not much is known about the 797F but the first field follow is operating
