Hi Christian
Have you been e-mailing Dennis Child regarding the S.A D100's and D80's? You are welcome to contact me at carlislebs@yahoo.co.uk if you require further detailed info and photos.I have personally had a ride in one of the D100's whilst transporting a 370 metric tonne transformer in mid 2006.Amazing......!

Christian,
Thought you might be intersted in seeing these photos of the Tractomas taken in Heanors yard a few years ago.

This one looks like the one on the Border Security (Cumbria UK) website. They're a machinery dealer.

it is the one...

Tractomas TR88 C5C, cummins engine, 450 hp, Clark gearbox, delivered to EGAT Thailand in 1981, 300 tons GVW

stil doesn´t explain how and when it came to be in Heanors yard... and does not tell me where it is today...

Christian,
Not sure when the photo was taken but it must be 8 years ago at least. I'll see if I can find some more for you. I have some photos of the Econofreight and perhaps the Brackmils Tractomas.
Tim, is Border Security your mate in the blacked out Merc?

Christian

I'll email the friend who Argie referred to and see what I can find. I can't promise anything though.

Argie and I may well be at the model show next year. I've been for the last two.

The TRACTOMAS really look good , but you mention that those models are made out resin, How much they weight? . and also much much you pay for the kit?

I have the Tractomas made by ASAM and thats a very heavy kit., I already put the cab together , but I still have the 3x3x3 kit, the K100 ,T800, Mack Titan and The Faun Goliath on the bench.

I dont know when I am going to start with all of them , but I soon as I start I will post some pictures.

its resin, but the best resin i ever worked with. the model is surprisingly heavy for a resin kit since many parts like tanks are full casted, not hollow

apaprt from that the weight is not an issue for me, accuracy is and here the Smith has a few big flaws

No problems with copyright on the photos Christian. Here's a couple of Econofreight's Tractomas.

Thank you very much Argie! really appreciate your contribution to my project!

so what is there to say about this truck: its a 1979 TR66 C4C, so Cummins engine, Clark gearbox, 6x6 drive, 450 hp. truck total weight was 39 tons when ballasted on the road

bought by Sunters it came to Econofreight in 198? and is now working in Mombasa, Kenya

two really interesting things to say:

a) its a left hand drive even though first owner was UK as well. the other "british" Tractomas that was bought by Brackmills also was a left hand drive, even though it was not a problem to get righ-hand-drive units. funny. Renault of course built right-hand-drive cabs and later there were wquite a few r.h.d tractomas out there, so why not these two where you would expect it the most? both bought new by purely UK companies...

b) see that boy sitting next to his dad in it? i am so envious. maybe this guy is still out somewhere and has good pics of his Dads truck...
