Maybe Norcot have already produced the full batch of models so it is not possible to change it, or they have got confused on which is the correct "signed off" version.

Maybe correct on both counts but if the first one is the case that right there is the difference beetween CCM and Norscot with regards to the customer.

I believe Norscot can get it right but they have to want to in order to get back some respect in the modelling world.

Just on that decal placement and heck that is what the topic is about i believe the high up position just under the lip is correct as this provides a degree of protection for the decal from falling material, just my 2 cents worth!

Shouldn't matter much that way Gav, with the decals on the Cat trucks, they'll be washed off in a month anyhow.

Posted on Ralph Garberents website from B2B replicas:

Thank you for asking about the location of the 793F Decal. We just
heard back from Norscot. They said, "Indeed, the typical location of
that decal would be where the expert collectors think it should be.
However, Caterpillar made a change. This is the correct version." We
will have our image updated soon.

Lets see what this updated image looks like...

You can remove these decals with superglue remover and if you are careful (wipe over with clean tissue each time) you do not damage the paint.

Then you can stick on a decal wherever you like, see below!

Cannot remember this pic source, but it was obviously not applied in accordance with CAT brand rules!

Now not being awkward, but CAT brand rules are usually very clear and precise on colour, location, etc etc, so I am bit confused on this one.

at least they are consistent!

just appears to be a minor mix up between left and right! The power edge should be on the left hand side (correct) when mounted on the left hand side of the truck when looking at it from the front. Ahhhhhhh.......................ooops!

Eh? Eh?

all this fuzz about a decal? you guys should be glad its not pink!

In my eyes the model looks quite nice compared to the 793D, despite the "mystery" decal.

I gotta agree here, its a Norscot after all,if she was made in a small limited run then fair enough but norscot will be churning these out, decal or no decal, accuracy is important don't get me wrong for to me Norscot have always had the "toy" factor about them, kinda like JOAL

Why is "phonetically" spelt with a "ph"?

... It's better to be silent and thought a fool, then to speak up and remove all doubt

The complex of Newgrange was originally built between c. 3100 and 2900 BC,[2] meaning that it's aproximately 5,000 years old. According to Carbon-14 dates,[3] it is more than 500 years older than the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, and predates Stonehenge by about 1,000 years.

....but in saying that above, its still a necessity to keep on them about issues such as missing detail or price,we shouldn't have to put up with their short cuts or overpricing

While there is much confusion regarding the decal placement of the 793F, i have contacted Norscot today and the official line is that a small production run of the model with the decal placed centrally on the dump body did get shipped out to dealers. All future production runs of the model will have the decal placed at the top of the body, below the lip as per the official Norscot image of the model (pictured below).

Thanks Steven. Finally we seem to be getting some sort of official response.

Any ideas when the "new and correct" version will reach dealers?

A video I found of a 793F with the X-Body showing the correct location of the decals as per the image above in Steven Downes post.

Well, you could look at it like coin collecting and just hope that maybe the wrong ones will be worth more. Wink

In the 2011 Norscot Catalog the decals are shown in the correct position (as seen in MCW's photo above).
