Chris,

Who did you get yours through and how long did it take to receive? I am assuming this is the latest update with the decals and hinge caps. What about the hand rails are they still a square section?

That sure is impressive! Well beyond my budget at the moment though Sad

Chris, I am also interested in your overall impression of the model - good quality?

I bought it from the gift shop at the factory in Düsseldorf. It was delivered to my house before I even left the country! I think it may have found its way onto the plane carrying parts to Australia Wink

I'd say it's the latest version but I honestly don't know if it's the final version; the production version. Hand rails are square but I didn't even notice until you asked. I'd say it's pretty much on par with the 340 but that's just my opinion.

For €250 it was a bargain!

I always look forward to a new large shovel, but for $500 the pictures from the OP are a bit disapointing.

Just checking in to ask if anyone has any updated info on this shovel with regards to final availability dates, prices and maybe even post a few production model images?

I assume it may be "officially" released at Minexpo...but then again, it may not happen.

One of the Drummond electrics was advertised in the DHS classifieds a day or two ago, but is gone now.

And yet, the diesels are still MIA?

I was told by another forum member that Komatsu/First Gear had a pallett of them air-freighted in months ago, but nobody I know with either organization can confirm this.

Please use this before clicking "post"??? You may be surprised with what you see!

At the DHS open house I asked at the cash desk and was told they were all manufactured but were still on a packaging problem delay. No point shipping units that will arrive damaged.

So Minexpo has come and gone without any official release of this model, even after it was announced about 2 years back.........and still no signs of any final production models making their way to dealers/distributors shelves!! What is going on here? I have never heard of a model being manufactured and made available to a select few individuals for purchase/sale in very limited numbers (20 units)in a company livery, before the corporate replica is commercially available.I am referring to the electric version in Drummond colours which most members on here would have seen.

Can anyone out there shed some light on the topic?
ThanksThink

It is available. A friend of mine got it a while ago. Check here for his review: Bymo Komatsu PC 8000 @ BMF.nl

Chris provides the answer. They are still being made and orders to Komatsu are still being fulfilled, hence why his came from the Komatsu gift shop. Production is "steady" and the model shipping appears to have been sorted.

The Drummond I understand was done through Komatsu.

I bought the PC 8000 four weeks ago in Houten. MSW had one. Great model but compared to the O&K-Terex RH 340 and the Bucyrus 495 models it is a bit rougher build by Himobo. Since the model is almost twice the price of an 340 it is to bad that it is a bit back in time. But nevertheless it is na interesting model from my collection.

Does anyone that attended Bauma have any photos of the latest(updated) model that was on display? The scale model now reflects the latest 1:1 machine with a number of changes(eg.45 deg. stairways and additional emergency ladders) over the original units. This is why the Chinese manufactured model's release has been delayed for such a long period.

Would be nice to see what we can expect when the production 1:50 models are finally released in July/August.

There were a few of the new models up for sale at Bauma but they got snapped up pretty quick at €344 each. I've not seen any photos of them doing the rounds though.

Word on there street is that they are due for release next month but the colour on the plastic cabs didnt match the metal parts.

Excavator,

It's crazy to think that it's been five years since you started this thread! So the cab is plastic; how much more of the model is? Do you have some photos of the other side of the piece?

Brian C,

I have yet to see any photo of a PC8000 with this less steeply angled staircase. Do you have any to post and share?
