 Above is three patterns for the two trucks. The 2 axle truck frame is on the right and the 3 axle truck frame with the equalizer is on the left. the 3 axle frame is a mirror image. After casting I will have a left and right side. I will need 16 copies for the 3 axle and 8 for the 2 axle. The patterns are setting on 1/50th side view of the project.  Here is a view of the 3 axle frame sitting in the equalizer. The patterns are made out of reshape a industrial modeling foam board. I have left the patterns attached to the blocks to use as casting blocks to pour the resin in. The equalizer to lots of pre-planning to come up with plan of how to machine and set up the G code. I did one side and then the other and it came out correct the first time.      adding the .015" plastic eyelets that fit perfect. I finished it off with hand filing to final shape. Here is small update. Work on the 3 axle bolster.  starting block for the ends.  top profile milled out  milling out slots   milling out side profile  finished part Sides    middle    used a 1/4" ball end mill to slot for axle.   parts laid out showing interlocking tabs for line up.    now for all the filing and trimming to get it to look like it is all one piece.   now with the mock up of the center axle  mock up of the equalizer and main frame with second axle  Some details left to do be fore I pour the rubber molds for casting. THERE IS A NEW SCHNABEL IN TOWN The prototype model is completed for a trade show. Now I need to do some tweaking for next 3 I have to build for them. I will add more of the build photos as I get time.  before priming but still have to do the draft arms.  Main frame with brass  Upper bolster details  Transformer with adapter plates  Completed model with decals      HLI manages the loads and CCC owns the car. In real life only CCC logos are on the car. This was done for promotions since HLI is the ones who contracted for the model to be done.   Draft arm. The only part I purchased were the wheels, springs, plastic nuts and couplers. The other 99% was all scratchbuilt using sheet plastic, rod, tube, resin castings and brass. Decals were custom printed by Buffalo Road Imports. Enjoy all. Fritz

Once again speechless... Love the heavy duty flatcars ,still have some in HO. Now all you need is to transfer the transformer from rail to trailer. Out standing modeling Fritz .
