Also if you look at the S Series Mixer, It had way to many axles that deterred a lot of collectors like me. There is only a certain geographical niche area where cement mixers are setup with that many axles. This is what it should of looked like.

I have spoken with a few dealers on this topic, they said they tried to tell TWH the same, make the mixers with a tapped frame so axles could be adjustable, but those recommendations fell on deaf ears. I can honestly say if they had made them with an axle setup that is seen outside of Ohio and Wisconsin I'd have paid their full asking price for more than one of them. Instead I only have one, and that was simply because it was free.

I wonder if the 31000 will be picked up by another manufacturer. Weren't the twh models marked with an nzg number in Europe as they were the distributer?

This is really unfortunate as they made nice, affordable models - albeit some were definitely a niche market. I sincerely hope some company can keep the Peterbilt 335 series going - so much potential.

Absolute shame to see the end of TWH ...they are not the first and won't be the last. One thing I have seen(as have others) is the constant misunderstanding of the reason we are in this hobby...the term " collectibles", as soon as you begin to see the gazillion repaints you know they are on the slide, anyone remember Code 3 collectibles ..same thing...gazillion repaints. What is wrong with making a model in a few different liveries to allow a decent profit margin then stop..but they don' t they keep going and turn collectibles into toys...then comes the demise. All because they want to make more from the initial model.

Next thing that causes a downfall of a great model making company is the constant whining and pleading from collectors to improve, make more detail etc at no extra cost. If you want a great, highly detailed collectible model you have to pay for it...TWH is not Norscot(they are not collectibles either). The company tries to meet these wishes but in the end they cannot meet expectations for the cost acquired....then comes the demise.

Next issue is one of the term Collectible..if a company is going to use this term or others such as museum quality, fine scale, (TWH definately made some of these)then please ensure a serial number on the base of the model which then ensures that your product is actually a collectible and not just a mass market product. Yes I am we'll aware that I am not going to make a million dollars out of models, but as soon as they abuse the terms they use, then I switch off and do not buy their products anymore.

I am with ya on some of your stuff GC. I know the term "collectibles" is thrown around by quite a few companies and is a false term. If you want to call them something then the term "Replica" should be used like First Gear does.

Now one the one hand I have collectibles in the form of Texaco banks one of which is a NASCAR race car bank in the Texaco colors and numbered 88 and if I recall (I haven't seen it in a few years as it is in a storage unit I have) it is the Ernie Irvan car. It was his "come back" car when Dale Jarrett drove the 28 Texaco car.

But I also disagree with you on the repaint issue. As some companies see what is done the contract with places like TWH to produce a number of models in their colors and then TWH and the others also seek the permission (and a percentage) to sell the companies model to the open market which in turn makes everyone money.

I have for years wanted a collectible for a company I had visited with my brother, it was where I ran my first piece of equipment and got me hook on operating equipment. The place was the Manitou Construction Company which was a primarily a concrete company. I finally saw a First Gear Mack R600 mixer in the company colors and loved it but unfortunately wasn't successful in acquiring one until last year (now I have 2, well I have one and the other half has one). To me these are collectibles because of what they mean to me and that is what a collectible is, it is something that means something to the buyer.

I'm a kid at heart, so I will play with any model construction vehicle from 1:87 scale to 1:1 scale!!!!

From the Drake Collecables Facebook Page....

Please find following a statement from TWH Collectibles. In response to this announcement I would like to thank TWH for their help over the last few years.

I would like to take this opportunity to ensure everyone that this announcement has no impact on Drake Collectables. Drake collectables owns all our own tooling and has direct licences an agreement in place with the OEM’s to continue producing “Museum Class Replicas” of Australian truck and trailer combinations.

Which is good news for all downunder ...

Thanks for that Bruce! By the way; some of us Yanks like the models too!
