I think my favourite WSI is the Lafeber MAN. The photo doesn't show all the trailer. A beam can go in between the bogies. I have seen the real thing and the model REALLY does it justice. I'm quite proud of my ALE MAN (NZG conversion) that I recently did. It was a lot more work than expected, considering that the livery is fairly simple. Again, I've seen the real one several times. For something with a lot of scratch building - my barge and push tug with NZG Ballast Nedam crane. I see this sort of thing in Holland and it was a lot of work to reproduce it. I was happy with the end result. Heavy Equipment Model ShowTurf Moor, Burnley Football Club, Burnley, Lancs, UK. Sunday October 16th 2016

Mine would have to be my sword Pete, with the quad axle Rogers. My Dad has always been a truck driver, and he has a white Pete now. If I could only keep one model, it would be this one.

For me it has to be my Atlas Copco rock drill. It's the story behind it that makes it my favourite. Going back a few years my dad operated one in the local granite quarry, he also did the blasting. As a kid I went up with him at weekends to help (or get in the way) maintaining it. My dad died of cancer a few years back so I set out looking for a scale model to display. One came up on ebay so I bid and won it. The seller was a little worried about posting so I had a 2 hour drive to pick it up. It turns out that the seller worked with my dad in the falkland islands drilling and blasting stone to build the Mount Pleasant airport and the seller built this model while he was out there. It's a small world! Here are some pics. I'm not sure of the scale but i've put it up against a CCM 1:48 D10. (no comments about the state of the grass please )

MartinW,
Your Atlas-Copco drill is 1:32 scale and was produced by Willson Models (yes; that's the correct spelling). To the best of my knowledge it is a one or two person operation and their models are quite limited and expensive. Certainly a rare piece!

It was in quite a sorry state when I got it. It needed a good clean and a few repairs. Do Willson Models have a website that you know of? I've done a search but drawn a blank.

This is a pretty rare bird - they don't show up at auctions that often! And the Pacific tractors are serious looking pulling / pushing machines. Two other Smith models - the R62 and Eucnik might be tied for second on the list. Both are just great looking models and superbly crafted by Smith.
And a final shout out to the crane fleet - the Ringer and 1750 are still two of the best. The 18000 (properly modified) also ranks very high...

I'm not aware of them ever having had a website, and I don't think they've been trading for many years now. Here is a photo of one of the compressors they produced.

I'd love to get my hands on one of those to go with my drill. How do I get hold of any contact info for them?
