Guy does Jean-Francois make those telescopic pistons, or does he take them from other models? I love that Renault it just looks heavy duty. Thanks Steve

Steve, Jean-Francois generally uses old radio sets antennas for his multiple extension pistons, with each element cut to the right length for each semi-trailer. Single pistons for truck tippers are 100% homemade from bars and tubes: to ensure some friction, a thin layer of epoxy glue is placed outside the bar, then - when dry - sanded until it can move inside the tube with little effort. I've tried myself his technique and must say that it works fine. See for example the old Corgy Toys Bedford fire-fighting vehicle below being upgraded, where "toyish" lifting mechanisms of the Simon Snorkel access platform are being replaced that way: I hope it helps. Guy thanks for the information. I’m making some 1960 single axle dump trailers and I’m trying to figure out how to do a four stage piston that will somehow stop before the next stage is ready to rise. Your information is very helpful. Thanks again Steve

Jean-Francois homemade Fruehauf tipping semi-trailer (presented earlier) was provided to MiniCams, which made a copy, with the intention of producing it, with some short-cuts to maximise cost, as replicating all functionalities modelled by JF would make that model over-costly. The unit, here behind various tractors (WSI, Minitrucks et MiniCams): Regards. Guy

Guy that’s impressive having a model manufacturer copying a piece that your team scratch built, that’s how you know your doing it right. Again with that Renault, the more I see it the more I like it. Steve

Steve, MiniCams is a 1-man models company having regular exchanges with Azur Modelisme team members: it provided quite a few kits to them, while they sent from time to time homemade tipping bodies, complete semi-trailers or modified cabs for molding. Norbert, who runs MiniCams on a part-time basis (he has another job that ensures him a regular income) is very flexible in terms of models and he tries, whenever feasible, to build the right customized model you want. As he does a lot of repaints for regular customers in addition, he becomes more and more known in the little French truck and plant equipment modelling world and his order book is more than full: the problem being now that you never know when your order will be treated. He hasn't got a website, but here is the blog where he presents his models: http://minicamionsdetp.skyrock.com/304.htmlI hope it helps. Guy

Courcelle, a transport and heavy haulage company from the Toulouse region (France), have gone through a very rapid expansion since 2000. A few years ago, they commissioned a large French models retailer to have 2 combinations made in Holland by Tematoys painted in their livery. Here below, one of them: DAF FTS 95XF-480 4x2/2 tractor + Nooteboom OSD 48-03/L 3-axle lowloader (Tematoys models) loaded with a Volvo-CE EC 210 tracked hydraulic excavator of 22.3 tonnes (Cararama model) Regards. To the end of the sixties, "A" et "F" letters of the DAF name meant "Automobiles Factory" and "Trailers Factory", as it can be seen on the company brochure below dating back from the period and bearing the 2 fabrication lines of the Dutch truck builder: "Van Doorne's AutomobielFabrieken N.V." and "Van Doorne's AahangwagenFabriek N.V.": DAF was then a complete automotive builder, as they produced small cars as well. Here below a DAF DO 2000 DKA 4x2/2 tractor (modified WSI model) and a DAF ETAL 3224 2-axle box semi-trailer (Lion Car model being modified): Regards. Guy

From then, temporary railing installation and winching operations of the transformer to its final location can commence: a hard day's work for the Wynns crew! Regards. Guy

Guy when they hauled the 769s in our neck of the woods they pulled the two outside rear tires off and kept the front ones on, you obviously do it in a different way. Nice pictures. Thanks Steve
