Man I would not mind seeing that AC700 running around somewhere.

I stopped by again and got a few more shots of Samson

I got there when the operators were just getting started. I asked them if I could get a few shots and they did not mind. I did not have time to ask them any questions they were busy lifting supplies up to the riggers. I also spotted a larger hook and looks like a super lift block but not sure. There was only the operator of the crane and no one else around. They let me climb all over the crane pretty cool to see up close too.

There was a lot of metal structure on the ground that looks like they were going to be lifting along with the new a/c handlers
Hope fully I can get back down there, next week I am stuck in the office so I hope they will be there a few more weeks

Sorry could not resist a few more. Oh yeah I had security try to run me off the site but I held strong. I had to show they all the pics I took, I told them it was all of the crane and I had permission, I just they do not want anyone taking pics of the building for some reason. I got the "NO PICS ON THE PROPERTY" speech

By the way - speaking of Anthony....

Ray Anthony just took delivery of a new 2008 Demag AC700 back in early June. The first two jobs for it were in Florida with longer term powerplant work scheduled in Texas. This is only the second AC700 here in the U.S. - the first being Hallamore's which was later sold to TNT out of Houston, TX.

I saw an Ac700 in Houston and it was huge! Didn't have a camera but quite the sight indeed. Doesn't Deep South have an AC700 as well?

I bet there are much larger cranes down toward the houston area then up here. The largest around here is Davis's LTM 1400. Hoopefully one of these years we'll drive down toward the houston area and go crane spotting. to bad you did not have a camera

Jason, Did you ask the operator or the crew when they would be taking it down? That would be cool to watch them take it apart.

I did not have time, I asked if I could get a few pics and 1 guy took off in his truck and the other started picking supplies for the rigging crew. So I did not have time, I was supposed to by driving to Justin to get parts for work and took a detour over to Dalas to get some pics of the crane.

I just got off the phone with Anthony Crane. They said their AC700 is currently in Pittsburgh. All they have in their yard right now are 100 and 80 ton cranes. They said the AC700 should be back in south Florida within a month. Their dispatch guy was very helpful.

I'm not sure which yard you're referring to. Their yard south of me is in Pomano Beach, FL. Their yard near Pittsburgh is in West Mifflin, PA. I can't say if the AC700 is in their PA yard or on a job site.

as of a week or two ago, there was a boom similar to this at the galleria - 635 and the trollway. i saw it heading down the tollway but couldn't see the body, il have to check and see if it is still there. if you're out taking pix of this one, wouldnt be too far up 35 to lbj and over to the galleria.
