What do I have to say? Beautiful pictures of a PTC!! Those are all close-ups cause usually you can't visit lifting sites that close!

10 Years ago I would have done everything to see a big or huge crane, but since I work every day with cranes it's quite common and in my country it's also normal to see a big crane regularly.

When PTC IV worked in Neurath (Germany) I visited the working area a few times, because it was in the neighbourhood of the huge lignite mines of Germany.
Last January one of our Liebherr LR11350's did a 400t lift at the Chemelot plant in Geleen, just 1 km from our office.
2 Weeks ago I stood 500 m from an ex-Ulferts&Wittrock Liebherr LR1750 (purchased by Mammoet). Again at the Chemelot-plant.

So, in my opinion the big cranes from 10 years ago are now quite common. Regarding to the Bauma; in 2007 biggest crane was the Liebherr LR11350. In Mammoet-livery. At this moment Mammoet has 4 of them. And at the latest Bauma biggest crane-related item was the hook block of a Liebherr LR13000. So the capacity is almost three times increased as 3 years ago.

Okay, the hook block was huge, but I can't say that I was shocked when I saw it....

One word to describe this beast, WOW. Fantastic pics, even more fantastic crane.

As Mammoet says "SIZE DOES MATTER". Slowly collecting Mammoet 1:50 scale stuff. Mainly cranes!

Thanks guys-we had a great time. AS you can all see it was impressive to see one of the worlds big ones on station!

As a note there were at least 20 other cranes on site, most all of them with luffers. American's, Link Belts, Manitowoc's and several Liebhiers. On any other day Zach and I would have been Oh Yea and high fiving, but today it was like, oh yea there are others here, but hey that PTC is unbelievable!!

We also were able to see about three axles of a line up of SPMT's with a a huge Mammoet spreader bar on it, but the photo op was not there.

I am going to see how much longer the PTC is going to be there. We also have it on good authority from the Q-man himself that they are going to add more boom and get the unit over 500 feet. It looks like today it was at 280-300 feet. So I am off to send a message to my Mammoet friends to see what the schedule is!!

Now, I may just be inspired to get out the extension kit out for my PTC, after all I have tomorrow off................

I don't know how I missed this topic the first time around, but what a great set of photos! Would loved to have been there myself!
But seeing as it has been almost a month since this visit, did you ever get back to see it extended and did you ever put the extensions on your 1:50th PTC?

Yup, pretty much beyond awesome. The Forum is having a pretty good run here - picking up photos of some rather rare beasts. That tower being lifted would make a nice model also. Applause Applause
