Hi,
I have the intention to buy one, but for that price tag with resin model which keep me away unfortunetely... the reason is especially crane model, need to be rigid in structure, resin will tend to flex or over the time the pieces may falling apart due to the glue degraded or something...
I hope Mr.Dan will made one with metal...only hope..

All parts except the lattice boom are made with cnc-cutted styrene sheets, gluing them together with the right glue makes a very strong connection. The lattice boom parts are made of Polyamide, but made in one piece! Of course it's not that strong as metal, but it needs much energy to destroy the glued parts - and none of my models are tending to flex or parts are falling off, and I'm using this material since many years already. I thought I had replied to this way back when but......... WoW..... beautiful work all around!....and yes styrene bonded with the appropriate bonding agent is darn near like when welding metal together.

These are amazing!! I just bought the HIMOBO AK1200 and should be getting it tommorrow. I can't wait!!! I bet that DHS could sell a bunch of these. Just a note. I have a digital copy of the operators manual for the Manitowoc 18000 crane. If anyone wants a copy just send me an email and I will send a copy. No, they don't steer. I decided to change that a year ago, I did have too many problems with the steering wheels - as other producers do have with the big crane models... Greetings Dan

The workmanship is spectacular. Dan deserves the highest complements for his effort.
Gottwald, while a financial failure, was certainly one of the most creative firms if not the most advanced for its time when it came to crane engineering and design.
Excellent subject material for models!

Dan,
that is just spectacular! I have gone through this entire post again to look back the AK680's you also did. You really do have a talent for model making!
I would truly love to have the 680-3 Sarens model! Did you ever build a derrick mast for AK680 yet?
