In 2006, move of a TBM element to be used for the Seattle (USA) underground transport network extension. The haulage is performed here, on behalf of the main contractor Traylor Bros Mining Inc., by Rigging International, shortly before that famous Californian company became part of the Belgium Sarens Group:

Goldhofer PST-THP/SL 14 28x12/28 self-propelled 14-line modular trailer (modified Conrad model) loaded with a 218.8 tonnes Herrenknecht EPB 6140 AH earth pressure-balanced shield TBM element (homemade load)

Guy Nicoletti fleet gathering looks good with all the rigs, is that a staging area for a job? Also do have any guts on the TBM or is it just the exterior. Nice looking load.

Steve,

The "Nicoletti" staging area was a small dio built by Jean-Jacques for a model show, years ago. He uses it since for various transport companies; it only requires to change the board on which the company name appears.
The TBM barrel is made of an empty plastic piece of pipe, I have just installed some structural beams on the top of it to support the tarpaulin with lifting eyes and various signs around, as required.

Jean-Jacques finished quite a few models in Richelmi livery (Monaco). Here a vintage Berliet GLA 5B tipper:

In 1987, Sarens carried for CMI a rotary kiln dryer of approx. 180 tonnes, through the mountainous Belgian Ardennes region, between Seraing - where it was built - and the Neuchatel area. The Belgium craneage/heavy haulage contractor mobilized for that operation 2 of his Mol tow trucks and a Goldhofer modular trailer:

Mol T 5064/07 6x6/2 ballasted tow truck (modified IMC model) and Goldhofer THP-L16 16-line modular trailer (built from Conrad elements) + Mol T 5064/07 6x6/2 ballasted pusher truck (modified IMC model) carrying a 181 tonnes Cockerill Mechanical Industries rotary cement kiln dryer (modified Corgi load)

Guy that Berliet tractor is real heavy looking, and the Mol T tractor in the picture by itself from the back reminds me of a Mack DM cab. I like both of those tractors. Nice construction site dio with all the workers and detailed supplies.
Thanks

A few pictures of the real move:

Pictures scanned from Speciaal Transport Magazine.

Both Mol trucks:

At that time in Belgium, trucks had to bear their licence numbers on both sides. IMC reproduced the Sarens fleet Nr 39 (licence plate V 13283-039), I changed one of them into fleet Nr 29 (it should then have a licence V 13283-029) but as I couldn't find the proper white lettering size to do it, I simply modified the vehicle registration plate and fleet number, but left the licence lettering unchanged.

Guy great shots of the collection and it is always great the way you back up your customs with pictures of the real ones and they are spot on. Small details, they are great.
Thanks

After a TBM element haulage in Seattle presented here some time ago, another TBM move, in Europe this time.
To move the approx. 5 metres diameter unit from its assembly site to its working place, the Mainz (Germany) craneage/heavy haulage company Riga-Mainz mobilized a SPMT owned by the joint-venture formed with the other German company Baumann and rented addiitional units from the Belgium company Roll-It (joint-venture between Aertssen and Ivens):

2 Scheuerle PKEZ 350.20.8 20x10/20 10-line SPMTs coupled side-by-side (NZG models) loaded with the 382.5 tonnes front head element of a double-shield Robbins TB 200" DS TBM on its supports of 12.8 tonnes each (modified IMC load)
