Nice pictures! you joke, but i know this exactly has happened with some machines at certain manufacturers. i know one case first hand where a machine was assembled in the hall and didn´t fit through the gate, and had to be taken down and re-assembled outside. and no, i won´t tell who had that embarassing adventure

The rumor mill has the machine going to Thiess pty ltd a part of the Leighton Group, a massive Australian contractor and contract mining operator. By all accounts the largest contract miner in the world and one of the largest general contractors also. Thiess is a long time Liebherr customer, and I would think owns more big Liebherr and other excavators than anyone else in contract mining.They just got two Hitachi EX 8000 shovels for the Mt Keith nickel J/V "which was recentlky pictured here on the board"..The rumor is that this first R-9800 will work in the Queensland area, or somewhere on the east side of AU.

Thiess is also what I had heard. They have at least 8 996 s and having signed two $0.5 billion contracts october last year for full coal mining / prep operations and expanding two other operations, I think I know where this will be working .

Christian-I was half joking and half remembering an American builder named Henry Ford who had to take an axe to his barn door after he realized his first car was wider than the opening!!! Its the details that make a project fun!!

(insert jaw drop here)  What is the manifold looking piece on the top center of the bucket between the rams? I don't see where the lines go to. Sensors, maybe? Dan

That looks like the grease fitting manifold to grease the bucket and stick pins(pretty good idea as long as it doesn't get damaged).

Very cool to see another contender among the largest hydraulics. It appears Liebherr opted not to equip this machine with a larger cab similar to those of the EX8000 and RH400.
